Two Thai Women and a Foreigner Injured in Motorcycle Collision in Pattaya

A motorcycle collision on Pattaya Third Road, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, left three people injured, including a foreign national who is in a serious condition.

 

The crash occurred near Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 4/1 in the early hours of the morning of December 27. According to reports, a red Honda Click motorcycle, driven by a foreign man, collided with a black Honda Scoopy, ridden by a 22-year-old Thai woman, Ms. Kannika Aumsuwan, with her friend, Ms. Samita Tipsawat, as a pillion passenger.

 

Rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation arrived at the scene to find the foreigner lying in a pool of blood in the middle of the road. First responders performed first aid, before rushing him to a nearby hospital. No details of the foreign rider were disclosed by authorities.

 

Ms. Kannika and Ms. Samita sustained minor injuries and were also transported to the hospital after receiving first aid at the scene. Both motorcycles sustained damage, with debris and broken parts scattered across the road.

 

Ms. Kannika reported that she was riding straight along the road when the foreigner, who appeared to be heading toward a nearby entertainment venue, made a sudden turn. Unable to brake in time, her motorcycle collided with his, causing both vehicles to skid in opposite directions.

 

Eyewitnesses corroborated Ms. Kannika’s account, stating that the foreigner’s abrupt turn led to the collision. The foreign national, who was not carrying any identification documents, sustained the most severe injuries.

 

Police Lieutenant Narate Phumsuk, an investigator from Pattaya City Police Station, arrived at the scene to document evidence and take witness statements. Authorities will review CCTV footage from nearby establishments to determine the exact cause of the crash.

I am afraid that some accounts told by Thai 'eyewitnesses' are not accurate.

I have experience of a few times when 'eyewitnesses' have said that I caused an accident when I had only stopped to help.

One even called the police. 

In that particular case, I had arrived after the accident - found the guy lying in the middle of the road.

The 'eyewitness' arrived after me and told the police that he had seen my car knock the guy off the bike.

When the injured guy came round at the hospital, he admitted to police that no one else was involved.

His bike hit a pot hole and he lost control.

Maybe they were driving too close to the other driver and they couldn’t swerve in time. So many possibilities, unfortunately the foreigner will be made of fault.

To be fair... given the statements, it appears the foreigner is 100% at fault. 

 

IF witness statements are correct, the foreigner made an abrupt U-Turn across the path of the women.

Are they checking both parties for DUI... 

Anyone involved in a traffic incident regardless of fault should be checked. 

 

In this case, given the time (early hours of 27th) - I think its a fair assumption that booze was involved impairing the foreigner decision to make a sudden manoeuvre without checking.

Never rely on directly involved witnesses.

They lie in most cases.

Happened to me and not in Thailand.

 

Could have been anything. Hope CCTV will help to find the facts.
