Young Security Guard Killed in Road Collision in Ayutthaya
Picture from responders. A 19-year-old security guard lost his life in a road collision in Ayutthaya after his brand-new motorcycle collided with a motorcycle and sidecar, followed by a fatal collision with a six-wheeled truck. The incident occurred at 23:30 on 30 December, on the outbound section of Asia Road near the railway overpass in Hantra, Ayutthaya. Police Lieutenant Colonel Pleng Pankaeo from the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station and rescue teams from the Phutthaisawan Foundation attended the scene. The victim was found lifeless in the middle of the road, with severe head injuries, multiple fractures, and wounds across his body. Nearby lay his heavily damaged Honda motorcycle, which had yet to be fitted with a licence plate and had recorded only 112 kilometres on its odometer. Debris from the crash was scattered across the road. A toppled motorcycle and sidecar was discovered near the bridge railings. Its driver, 52-year-old Mr. Boonsong, sustained minor injuries with scrapes across his body. Farther along the road, a six-wheeled truck was parked, driven by 34-year-old Mr. Pongdanai, who was unharmed. According to Mr. Boonsong, a construction worker based in Chonburi, he was returning home to Nakhon Sawan for the New Year holidays when the collision occurred. He stated that as he was ascending the bridge, he heard a loud crash as the victim’s motorcycle struck the rear of his sidecar at high speed. The impact caused the young motorcyclist to be thrown into the middle of the road, where he was tragically run over by the oncoming truck. Mr. Pongdanai explained that the road was poorly lit and unable to stop in time, his truck struck the victim and caused the fatal injuries. The victim’s older brother arrived at the scene in shock and confirmed that his younger sibling worked as a security guard at a factory. He had just completed his shift and was on his way home when the carsh occurred. He also revealed that the motorcycle involved in the crash had been purchased only a day earlier. Police transported the body to the hospital for further examination and will continue their investigation. -- 2024-12-31 -

French Graphic Designer Reports Theft of Expensive Camera in Pattaya
Picture captured by CCTV A French graphic designer has reported the theft of his camera, valued at 100,000 baht, following a recent air conditioning service at his home in Pattaya. The incident, which occurred on December 18, was reported by Mr. Christian Demoulin, 34, and his wife, Ms. Wanida Wakthaisong, 33, at the Pattaya City Police Station on the morning of December 29. Ms. Wanida explained that the couple had hired two air conditioning technicians to clean the units in their home, which is located in Soi Kromthedin 6, Pattaya. The service took place in their office room, where several valuable items were kept on a desk, including a digital camera, lenses, and computer equipment. One technician remained inside the room while the other worked outside. Ms. Wanida recalled that the technician outside entered the room briefly to take out a trash bag. The cleaning process finished without incident, and no one suspected anything was amiss at the time. However, when Mr. Demoulin later attempted to use his camera, he found it missing. Upon reviewing the security footage, the couple saw the technician outside the room passing a brown shoulder bag to the other technician, acting nervously and trying to avoid the camera’s view. They then realised the camera and lens, a Fujifilm model valued at 100,000 baht, had been stolen. Further investigation revealed that the stolen camera was posted for sale in a second-hand camera group online. Mr. Demoulin was able to confirm that the person selling the camera was indeed one of the air conditioning technicians. The couple attempted to contact the technician, who initially agreed to meet them at the Pattaya City Police Station, but after waiting for hours, they received no response. Subsequent attempts to reach the technician were unsuccessful, as he avoided their calls and inquiries. Police Lieutenant Colonel Ittiporn Tangchuthivatsap, the deputy investigating officer, confirmed that a report had been filed and that the police had started investigating the case. The authorities are working with the investigation team to gather more clues and track down the suspects for legal action. -- 2024-12-31 -
