New Update Phuket Immigration Retirement extension
Good for you. the several instances which i have heard of were, unfortunately, the wife becoming addicted to gambling. in another very sad instance (i know, ethers always just one story like this - the wife had a very minor gambling habit, got very sick when her farang husband was travelling abroad for months on end (his hobby). possibly a stroke. needed to borrow 200k from local people (not mafia). they used the same legal/contractual paperwork that was used to cause me to lose my apartment in Phuket. It is called a ''sale or redemption''. she forgot about (or was too ill to remember) the 3 or 6 month repayment deadline. So she lost the house and land. meanwhile while she was ill, her best friend (our massage lady, which is how we were privy to this story) just ignored her situation. the classic ''up to you''. i do not want to overstate this - but in my case (and my fellow investors, in the project) and in this poor lady's case - there is no land title protection in Thailand . There are laws prohibiting excessive interest rates/protecting the rights of land owners. But once you hand over your Chanoet, you are screwed. -

An Idiots Guide to the Retirement Extension process at Samui Immigration Office
Going back to Samui Immigration this afternoon to try again renewing my extension. One thing I found confusing was the wording for how they wanted the papers laid out. Portrait? Vertical? It turns out it's not the passport or the bank passbook, rather they want all the writing to be as one would read a page. So your Passport itself might need to be in portrait OR landscape, depending on how the stamps were entered. Anyway. Below is how the lady downstairs at the Imm. Office arranged all my papers for me to go this afternoon. I know that there is a list of these requirements, but this is the order she put mine in. It might prevent some grumpy interactions for others in the future. 1. TM.7 with photo + copies of Passport pages. 2. TM.8 " " " " " " for my Mutiple Re-entry Permit. 3. Bank Letter. 4. Bank Statement (12 months). (Valid for one week from issue.) 5. Copies all pages of bank Passbook. NOTE: Passbook to be updated on same day as application. 6. Medical Certificate. (Valid for one week from issue.) 7. Copy of House paper: Blue book, yellow book or rental contract. 8. Satellite photo with co-ordinates of house. 9. Hand drawn map. 10. Copy of Notification of Address. Mine is stapled in my passport. 11. Photo showing house and number. 12. Copy of form: Amendment to Criteria and Conditions for Consideration of an Alien's Application for a Temporary Stay in Kingdom (3 pages). All documents to be signed. HTH -

Well a perfectly simple innocent and honest question received a perfect answer (as usual) from @BritManToo and then another slightly more technical response which was also gratefully received from @SamuiGrower Exactly what this forum was intended for Thanks for the information guys, And then there was the third response By the end of the first line he was "lmao" The second line ws nothing other than derogatory and antagonistic and the third line was probably about as condescending as he could manage. All of it was completely off topic. Personally I can't think what would motivate anybody to post a comment like that other than a very feeble attempt at trolling, What do other members think?
