Re-watching inspector George Gently with Martin Shaw. Still worth a shot particularly if you haven't seen it before.

Decent actor, he played a Judge in a TV series, can't remember the name of it, but it was very good.

Watched or still watching:

Wolf Hall S2:  Can't say I was that impressed.  Endless shots of Cromwell walking from A-B and / or gazing into the distance.  A 90 minute movie (max) dragged out for 6 hours.  That said I didn't particularly enjoy S1 either, I just like period dramas.  Far preferred The Tudors TBH, bit more fast and loose with the history but way better entertainment IMO, plus the cast didn't all look like the walking dead and didn't mumble constantly!

Star Trek The Next Generation: Never been a Trekkie but just fancied giving it a spin.  Still prefer James T. Kirk and co., not bad though, even if it looks dated (at least S1 does!).  I think I could make a more convincing alien planet surface in my garden. "We come in peace, shoot to skill. shoot to kill". 🤣

Dune Prophecy: Really enjoying it.

Das Boot S4: One of the better WW2 series IMO.

Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: A Guy Ritchie take on a WW2 action movie.  Thoroughly enjoyed

The Penguin: Pretty decent too, even if I prefer that Sofia Falcone part of the story.

Gladiatior II: Wash, rinse & repeat of Gladiator pretty much with a less interesting story and not a particularly outstanding cast.  Gone for the wow action scenes too much in this one IMO.  I'd go so far as to say I thought it was crap!

Silo S2: Nowhere near as good as S1, really slow, struggled to get to the end of it, lost interest about half way through.

Bad Sisters S2: Not bad, again S1 better IMO.

Looking forward to The White Lotus S3 (set in Thailand this time), again that suffered with S2 not being as good as S1.

After reading so many glowing reviews on the Brit sitcom Gavin and Stacey I thought it was worth a try. Gave it away after 10 minutes as it seemed very dated and not a bit funny. Maybe one had to be British to appreciate it.

For Brit sitcoms, you could try Bottom, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Father Ted, The IT Crowd, Black Books...just a few of my faves.

I've not seen at least a couple of those, Peep Show was good though and unique.

Another that comes to mind is 'House of Fools' by Reeves and Mortimer, it's totally idiotic but kinda funny. Also ' Catterick', not sure what you can say about that really 🙃. I think it's on Youtube.

No .. I don’t think it’s anything to do with being a Brit .. I think it’s about being retarded to appreciate it. I downloaded two seasons of the cleaner - another bbc comedy about a crime scene cleaner, at a Brit, I was just as confused as how anyone could find this humour.

Agree, that cleaner rubbish was really bad, and i liked Greg Davies in the Inbetweeners and early Taskmaster stuff, in Man Down he was okay but in his later stuff he is the comedic male version of Miranda !!

I watched a movie I'd never heard of before, called "Marshall" and it was the story of Thurgood Marshall, the crusading lawyer who would become the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, and although it was mainly a courtroom drama with just a few scenes outside of it, it was very good. It starred Chadwick Boseman and Kate Hudson, amongst others.

Another one I watched a couple of nights ago (again) was "The Dallas Buyers Club" and I enjoyed it and the acting by Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto was outstanding.

Yet one more for the record, I watched a little-known movie by George Clooney, called "The American" and although it was fairly slow, it was also enjoyable.
