A shocking incident unfolded yesterday in Udon Thani’s Ban Dung district when a disturbed individual allegedly killed a dog and displayed its butchered remains for sale. The dog, believed to have fled in panic due to new year fireworks, fell victim to the man’s disturbed behaviour.

 

Upon receiving reports from concerned residents, Werapol, the administrator of the Bandung Update Facebook page, rushed to the scene in Soi Boriban Damri 8 to investigate. There, they encountered 55 year old Sawai, known locally as Por Yai Wai, sitting by the roadside, carving the dog’s meat. The dog’s dismembered body parts, including legs, liver, kidneys, and entrails, were laid out on the pavement, with a fertiliser bag serving as a mat for the remains. The dog was identified as a large white breed.

 

Eyewitnesses recounted seeing Sawai in the afternoon, killing the dog and placing its meat by the road for sale. The community was appalled and avoided approaching him due to his history of mental illness, which reportedly led him to harm other animals like rats and cats, and even attempt to attack people. Werapol approached Sawai to inquire about the dog’s origin and the price he set for the meat, only for Sawai to suddenly grab a 1-metre-long iron rod and threaten those nearby, causing onlookers to scatter in fear.

 

 

Sawai’s relatives shared that he has been struggling with mental health issues for a long time but denied any drug use. They believe the dog was an unfortunate victim of the new year celebrations, running away from the fireworks only to encounter Sawai. The relatives expressed their desire for Sawai to receive proper treatment, fearing for their safety and the community’s well-being. They urged relevant authorities to intervene and ensure Sawai is cared for, rather than left in the current situation.

 

Police from Ban Dung Police Station arrived at the scene, but Sawai attempted to evade capture by swiftly walking away. Officers had to chase him down before detaining him and transporting him to Somdej Phra Yupparat Ban Dung Hospital for psychiatric care.

 

Police have also invited anyone who believes the dog might have been theirs to come forward and file a complaint, promising to pursue legal action against Sawai where necessary, reported KhaoSod.

So the relatives have no intention of helping him?

Mentally ill ? More likely a cruel, idle useless scumbag. Should do significant jail time.
