Thailand has fully implemented its "Treatment Anywhere" 30-baht universal healthcare initiative, now active across all 76 provinces. Originally launched on 7th January last year in four pilot provinces, this marks the final phase of the scheme, spearheaded by the National Health Security Office (NHSO).

The programme aims to ensure that Thais can access medical care close to their homes, enhancing both the accessibility and efficiency of healthcare services. At its core, it seeks to accelerate financial support for healthcare providers by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) for pre-payment verification, thus streamlining claim processes.

Athaporn Limpanylers, the NHSO’s deputy secretary-general, highlighted the necessity of data integration and seamless information sharing between healthcare providers. The NHSO has also bolstered its 24-hour hotline service by increasing the number of lines available, enhancing public accessibility to healthcare services.

To further support the scheme, the NHSO has recruited volunteers and set up communication channels on platforms such as LINE, Traffy Fondue, and Facebook. By year's end, 13,004 healthcare units, including medical and dental clinics, pharmacies, and traditional medicine clinics, will be participating.

A striking 7.04 million people have already benefitted from the initiative. The NHSO ensures clarity in reimbursement procedures for the participating units, facilitating smooth operations and efficient service delivery. This marks a significant stride in Thailand's healthcare journey, prioritising seamless and locally accessible health services for all its citizens.
