In the Isaan province of Sakon Nakhon, a startling incident unfolded yesterday, marking the New Year with tragedy. A former Thai boxer, identified as 38-year-old Tum, was arrested following the death of a security guard at a local celebration. The event, held to commemorate a monk's promotion, turned violent when Tum assaulted volunteer security guards, leaving one fatally injured.

A video shared widely on Facebook showed Tum in a frenzy, attacking those around him. He punched and kicked several volunteer security staff, an outburst that proved fatal for Somchai, a guard who suffered severe head trauma after being struck and later died in hospital.

Police quickly apprehended Tum near his home. His disoriented state was evident, and his body bore multiple bruises. Tum's silence in the face of police questioning forced authorities to rely on eyewitnesses, who testified to his unexpected and unprovoked aggression. They described Tum's strength as extraordinary and difficult to subdue.

Tum, whose past includes both boxing and agricultural work, has reportedly battled drug use and mental health issues, factors speculated to have influenced his actions during the party. He now potentially faces serious charges under Section 297 of Thailand's Criminal Law, for the assault leading to Somchai's death. If convicted, Tum could face imprisonment for up to a decade, alongside substantial fines.

While the community grapples with the shock of such a violent episode, police continue their investigation, seeking justice for the victims and clarity on the motives behind Tum's uncontrollable fury.

Would make a great prison flick if you throw in a gay, a hot girl and at least one ladyboy.  And don't forget the Thai guy with an afro.  Oh, and one good looking monk who's also an excellent detective solving murders.

For the safety of the public, this nutter needs to be locked up for a very long time.

Yeah, until experts all believe he is no longer a threat to the public.

Doesn't seem nearly enough for an unprovoked attack resulting in somebody's death.

There's a difference between straight up murder, which carries the death penalty in Thailand, which can be converted to 25 years behind bars, if the accused is cooperative, and involuntary manslaughter, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years, which is what you see in this video.

It would really be ideal if Thailand bought an island in the middle of the ocean, and turned it into a penal colony with forced labor, and used degenerates like Tum to create something and actually find a way to be productive for society. Out of sight and out of mind, yet productive.

None of these thais seem to be able to fight not do they help each other until the very end.

It certainly makes a mockery of all the posters here who say they are all muay Thai fighters and will help each other in groups .

Love to see him do that in the Philippines,he wouldn't of lasted in life

I also saw this last night and had it explained to me by some thais that the guy doing to punching has had enough of all the loud music in his area going on till all hours in the morning.

If true, though I don't condone the murder and violence, I do at least understand his frustrations....
