Cliffo Posted Friday at 05:31 AM Posted Friday at 05:31 AM No traffic enforcement generally in Thailand and we don't know who is at fault. Even Thais will tell you and have posted you tube advice that no one in Thailand respects designated crosswalks even if there is one clearly marked. I've seen Thais even drive through red light crosswalks when people are crossing. The court will decide. 1 1

The bike is a rental and the current tax sticker is clearly visible in the photograph. Look at the photos, the rider is wearing quality safety gear, the big has good quality gear fitted. it is currently registered. so the bike was fully legal and suitable for road use. as to weather the rider was speeding or the lady who was hit goes, we will never know unless more information is released. Most likely an adventure bike. Do you have the link to the original article. 1

What about that don’t you understand? Apply some wisdom. Pedestrians have the right-of-way where we come from and here as well. This isn't "where we come from", Thai laws apply here, and nowhere does it mention that she had right of way.
Liverpool Lou Posted Friday at 05:32 AM Posted Friday at 05:32 AM 3 hours ago, BarBoy said: That would depend on where she was crossing the road. At a crosswalk when the lights are on red then yes, that is correct. But as of yet we don't know where she attempted to cross. Pedestrians have no rights at all on main roads unless they use the designated crossings. Well said.

This could have been an 80 year old women too for all we know and was just not paying attention. Those poor people get terrorized. Even more likely that all that over-imaginative speculation was probably not the case.

Me, we as a group knows this, and therefor more careful around villages and other populated areas. There was a group of motorcyclists involved in this incident? Where was that stated?

He may have been driving straight, at a normal speed, and the woman could have walked across the road without looking, which I see daily here all the years I've lived here. The only evidence that could judge this is CCTV. They're quick to decide against foreigners regarding traffic incidents here, which is prejudiced thinking before any evidence is there. He is being charged with reckless driving causing death so there must be some element of dangerous driving associated with the accident. He probably just emulates Thai style driving which includes ignoring people on pedestrian crossing let alone those crossing elsewhere. 1 1

Popular Post spidermike007 Posted Friday at 05:54 AM Popular Post Posted Friday at 05:54 AM When riding a motorbike or a car in Thailand, one always has to be on the lookout, have eyes on the front side, and back of your head, always looking for pedestrians, bicycles, motorbikes, dogs, cows, cars and trucks, otherwise it's just a hazard waiting to happen. If this guy had been sharp enough he would have seen her, she didn't just appear out of nowhere, so he was either going too fast, driving recklessly, drunk or just not paying attention. All of which are crimes if you're on the road. 2 2 1 1 1
