What a piece of junk.

This, actually, does not even look roadworthy.

And, it must be very loud.

So, I would bet the old lady heard this bike, and it was the last sound she heard.

I think it is very frustrating to consider that an old lady may have been rundown by a speeder, and one from another country.

Still, one must wait for the facts.

And, one hopes that the facts will surface in this case.

What makes you think it’s not road worthy?

If you walk into traffic without looking, it’s your fault.

Lovely reasoning. Should get it included in the law books internationally .

Why do so many people blame the driver for the death of the pedestrian? What's the legal speed limit on that road. 50 km/h ? Just assume he was driving with that speed and the old lady crossed the road without looking for traffic (as many people do here btw), the collision can be fatal as well. So without further evidence from witnesses or camera footage it's easy to blame the driver for no reason....

I think the fact that he was charged with "reckless driving causing death" enters into it.

The term "dirt bike" can cover a wide variety of off-road motorcycles, including many that are perfectly road-legal.

The term usually means a motorcycle designed for off-road capabilities whether licensed for road use or not.

The CRF300 is marketed as a dual sport motorcycle for on and off road riding.

Amazing isn't it. There have been more posts and pages in one day on this relatively minor incident than have been on the major disaster that took place in Korea 6 days ago.

This post 14 pages 400 posts

Disaster in Korea  12 pages 342 posts

What does that say about the mind set of this forum I wonder.

What are you even trying to say? That is foreign news, they also kill dozens of people daily in 30 other countries. This is a local thing and when a foreigner kills someone on a bike, that is simply news.

He <deleted> himself up big time by getting a photo on his knees, now it got media attention big time. If he did not do that or that photo would not been made, people already had forgotten by now.

I see  some awful behaviour from Thais on the roads

this statement needs amending, if you'd been here longer, and/or didn't have a one eyed view, you'd know the awful behaviour on thai roads is absolutely not restricted only to thais, i see plenty of westerners behaving appallingly on the roads here, endangering themselves and others.

Last time I checked Id swear there were considerably more Thais  on the road than foreigners which is why Id see more  bad behaviour from them. Ive been here 147 years.

There appears to be some man in black and wearing sunglasses smiling in the background.

There appears to be a cop (blocked by the woman in colorful dress) with an expression on his face that suggests a smile.

The posture of the standing American does not jibe with the posture of one in grief and shock who just ran over a pedestrian and killed them.

Given the above, the prostrate American might be acting.

That is not a verdict - only conjecture.

Inconclusive till further evidence is produced.

It is more directly related to the lives of forum members than the incident in Korea.

Doesn't say that much.

Ok so I'll swing it around a bit. Last week a Thai family of 6 was wiped out in a pick up accident. That attracted just 2 posts!

That was local news too and a whole lot more tragic than this one.

Deaths on Thai roads are a daily occurrence, many times in all provinces, but this involved a foreigner so it makes the news all over.

Thai people often play "frogger" crossing the road and inch out slowly and wait until the vehicle passes them. This can really confuse tourists that don't know if they're going to fully cross or not so they swerve around trying to avoid each other.

I almost hit a person once years ago because I didn't understand this. Eventually I ended up totally stopping in the middle of the road and the guy was so confused as to why I didn't just keep going.

Yeah, I really hate that. Cars do the same here. Creeping out slowly instead of waiting and going
