Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
Very interesting indeed and was wondering about this as well and yes I do not know about everyone else I paid too much income tax to the UK for the year ended 5th April 2024 and in fact got a small refund in Sterling. BTW again I reiterate as of Tuesday 7th January I went around again to the local Revenue office to enquire about the forms 90 and 91 and the Exemption/ Allowances one and stated what form and yet again stated as many times before with my circumstances I do not have to fill in any forms. As mentioned Carl Turner of the expats tax so-called tax expert and on his latest video stating yes we are classified as a tax resident if we stay over 180 days then we must fill in a tax form but on the very next page stating if your income is below the current threshold then you do not need to file. In any case there are still no forms and none on the revenue sites and possibly in Thai but none of us can find one form anyway. This whole process has not been well thought out at all to say the least and too many tax experts akk stating fifferent things just like all the Revenue offices!!!! -

January 6, 2021 -- a day that will live in infamy
Again you make a serious point worth consideration. I do think both dates are very historically significant but I can't rate the importance of one vs. the other. Consider this. If Trump had lost in 2000, conceded the loss, and participated in the normal peaceful transfer of power, without the leadup and events of January 6th, his reelection to a second term would be notable as great political comeback for sure, but nothing like the severity of his significantly successful washing away of January 6th. -

Gulf of America.
That does make sense. Though Mexico still has the most dominant coastline, in length. About 100 kms more than USA, and Cuba having <400 kms of coastline with the Gulf. -

Early morning / Twilight hours boredom
I like to keep busy and engaged so I am never bored--whatever time of the day it is. My morning routine usually consists of coffee on the terrace where I read the latest news on the laptop, check my stock portfolio, read any emails, check Facebook, do WORDLE, etc. Then, breakfast, workout at home gym, have a swim, shave, shower, and it's on to the rest of my day. When I have free time I like to read mysteries and suspense novels and watch some of the good tv being produced today. Spouse and I are in the planning stages for our next house build and also planning our next travel trip. The house build and more travel than last year will keep us engaged this year, I think. And, we want to get to Bangkok more often this year than we managed last year. Life is good. Enjoy each day. -

4M baht taxable?
Your comment on the 'en route issue' is, in my view, highly credible - stating that an inbound remittance (from overseas) remains the remitter's property until it is deposited into the recipient's (Thai) bank account. However, wouldn't the scenario change if the remitter initially transfers the funds to the recipient's overseas account (such as through WISE or OFX), and the recipient then independently remits the funds to their Thai bank account? To further strengthen this approach, engaging a lawyer to draft a gift contract - one for the transferor and one for the transferee - outlining the amount and purpose of the gift could add clarity and compliance. This approach could potentially align with the gift tax rule, don’t you think? -
