Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
No its not. It's money that moves across CRS borders that is of concern. The money I earn in the UK, pay tax on in the UK and stays in the UK is of no concern to CRS. Now remind me again, the reason why Embassy income Affidavits were stopped ? Was it not because people were caught lying about their financials ? Too much of a stretch to imagine that people might also be lying about the source of their income to avoid / evade tax. Especially those that remit income through platforms like Wise etc. -

Health Insurance in Thailand After Leaving Employment
Even if you decide to obtain private medical insurance, don't give up the social security coverage. Continue to pay the monthly premiums so that you'll have this scheme to fall back on. Private insurers will exclude pre-existing conditions, so that coverage will have holes in it depending upon your medical situation and history. Thai regulations are not as consumer-friendly as in the West and policies here are often not as broad in coverage. You may find better coverage and better underwriting and claims-paying attitudes with offshore insurers. Don't mistake the local operations of multinational insurers for the operations of offshore insurers. They may be part of the same company with the same branding, but operate under different regulations, have different approaches to underwriting and claims, and use different policy forms. -

Strange and annoying things here in land of smiles
You buy a new car or new phone every six months, to get so upset? Take a Valium before you go shopping. No, I don't want to feel you. -

Security at walking street wrecking havic
So you handed over your phone ? I'm guessing you were "in their face" filming so they chose you otherwise if you were at a distance they wouldn't of came over to you You did the right thing however, in both filming and unfortunately handing over your phone because you would/could of been assaulted. I don't know the answer -

Agree but not easy if one has a Thai family and of course they make absolutely no allowance for this and when these tax experts are asked a simple question they do not but have you signed up and all about money, as usual. -

Another Wise problem - Please forgive me!
You appear to be directing wise to PULL money from your bank, rather than having your bank PUSH money to Wise, using PLAID as an external (paid) facilitator service to shorten processing time. Am I correct that there is a service charge from Wise when you add to your balance via ACH? If so, how much? The fee appears to be 0.25% of the amount added to your balance jar. https://wise.com/us/pricing/receive/ When calculating fees to send USD to THB, the cost to send US$1000 as transfer from your balance is $6.68 (variable fee = 0.54%), while the cost to send via bank debit (ACH) is $9,60 (variable fee - 0.80%) For $2,000, the fees are $12.06 and $17.55 For $10,000, $55.07 and $81.22 https://wise.com/gb/pricing/send-money?sourceAmount=10000&sourceCurrency=USD&targetCurrency=THB So the fee for your $3000 (~100K baht) means at the current exchange rate, you'll get 103,383 baht (fee $17.44) sending from balance, or 103,103 if using Plaid (fee $25.51). Not a big deal for the convenience, I suppose, when you look at the difference in baht. Plaid is not a free service. They charge Wise per use to facilitate bank authorizations, otherwise a normal ACH pull to add to your balance takes longer. Finally, it's helpful to know that the Wise ACH transfer time may be slower than some other payment methods. That’s because banks tend to take a little longer to process ACH payments, meaning it can take up to 4 days for your payment to be cleared and received by Wise. I have always sent FROM my credit union TO Wise. Never used this Plaid thing you and others have encountered from the Wise side of the transaction. I may have been asked in the past to set up a Plaid link, but I don't recall. -

18 pages of this nonsense. If you are stupid enough to voluntarily pay tax you deserve to pay it. Just like the people in the UK paying for a TV licence. If this was actually enforced it would kill the real estate market, do you really think the people who are selling condos and Villas in Phuket and elsewhere at 4-5 times the build cost on land they have 'owned' for decades will allow this? These are powerful people and include some who can just declare rocky land along the coast to be theirs. They will not upset this apple cart. It's the same reason money laundering regulations are not enforced here.- 2
