How to get funds to my Thai bank account

I know that but the OP has never said he wants/needs a new UK bank account from what I have read. He wants a financial outlet that will allow him to deposit funds and subsequently transfer amounts to his Thai bank in the event of an issue with his current UK bank. An international bank account may be a solution to his problem.

They do not have to give any reason but it is probably set out in the pension schemes rules that payments have to be remitted to a bank, Wise is not a bank.

I am fully aware that Wise is not a bank and is a electronic financial transfer business. 🙏

I've had  Lloyds account since 1971. When I moved to Thailand in 2007 Lloyds suggested I transfer my account to Jersey, Lloyds International. Although not in the UK it has a UK sort code and both my pensions are paid in every month. It also carries my Thai address. Every month I do a SWIFT transfer to my Krungthai account here. The overseas transfer capability (SWIFT) is an option in the Lloyds banking app on my smartphone. Very simple.

I am curious as I also have a Lloyds Int account. I know they offer, or used to. free transfers but the first time I used that I got hit with an Intermediary/correspondent charge. Since then I choose to take all charges and overall cost is much reduced.

As you transfer regularly (mine tend to be annual) can I ask what is your experience of this?

Yes, there is no direct charge to my Lloyds account but the transfered amount is reduce by a 'correspondent bank' charge of about £5 on the amount I usually send. I don't know why, but suspect that it's because Lloyds don't have a 'partner' bank in Thailand. My Krungthai statement shows the reduced GBP amount deposited. If I multiply this figure by their daily published deposit exchange rate for telegraphic transfer I can work out that Krungthai make a charge of Bt250 for the deposit.

I just live with it.

Yes all the major Thai banks seem to charge min 250/max 500 on any foreign funds Swifted in.

Agree. Whenever I send money from my UK bank (Barclays) to Thai Kasikorn, Kasikorn deduct 300 baht for their 'fee'.
