Buying a new car.........you'd think it was easy
The very first time I was buying a new car here (25 years ago or so) I went to Honda to try the Accord. There wasn't a lot of choice in the market back then. They wouldn't let me test drive so I walked out. Went to Nissan to look at a Cefiro, they let me drive a customer's car around the car park only. I ended up in another Honda dealer that did let me test drive the Accord properly, and I bought it. Can't imagine buying a car with having a decent test drive. Think it would be very unusual to not be allowed to test drive these days. (Oh, I did buy one car without a test drive as I knew I wanted it so badly: Subaru Impreza WRX). I don't really like having the salesperson along for the ride but it is expected. Test driven BMW, a few Volvos, Hondas, even a Proton Exora which I had the whole family in - all put a salesperson in the vehicle. (And yes, I am one of the few people to be able to say they have bought a Proton Exora. Great value, never has trouble). Best test drive experiences: I walked in to Mercedes Thonglor and asked if I could test drive a CLA250 when they first came out. They said yes, took my license, gave me the keys and said off you go - no salesperson, just me on my own. Quite a fun little peppy turbo engine that got given some good exercise. I didn't buy the car though as there was an eight month waiting list. Went to ask for a test drive of a Lexus IS250 many years ago. They gave me the keys and said "bring it back tomorrow". So I took it up to Pattaya and back, drove it a lot, picked up mates, it got a very thorough testing. And I did buy it. -

Trump just said he is going to pardon the J6 "hostages".
What question might that be? I'm trying, but you are often just too sharp for me. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
I think I recall those posts. They were at the very start, when I first started looking into this. I subsequently learned and revised my view that exempt income qualifies as exempt for tax calculation .... which means it does NOT go in a Tax return form (especially if there is no place for a tax form) and further it doesn't contribute to one's assessable income addition in trying to decide if one should submit a tax return. Why did I shift my view there? Because I saw PID.95 , which states income tax area for the LTR Visa Highly skilled professional in both the year 2023 and year 2024 Thai tax forms (Thai language), and in the year 2023 Thai tax form (English language). So clearly the Revenue Department knew of the LTR visa as the LTR-HSP visa has entry fields for that visa. But how about the LTR-Wealthy Pensioner (WP), LTR-Wealthy Global Citizen (WGC), and LTR-Work From Thailand Professional (WFTP)? There is no entry in the tax form for their exemptions. Why ? The only logical explanation is such income is not only exempt for the purpose of a tax calculation, but also it should not be considered as assessable income. It became very clear then, I was most likely too paranoid about a tax return being needed. So I re-evaluated and corrected my view. Correcting one's view? That is something I believe you need to do. -

Hegseth has been confirmed.
Once again you are oversimplifying the issue, what I was complaining about was international overreach by American authorities operating within Thailand and using their influence within Thailand to prosecute sex crimes of a very minor nature. I'm very much against underage sex, I'm very much against human and sex trafficking, but there are very minor crimes that when prosecuted by overzealous authorities can ruin a person's life. There is a huge distinction and Hegseth has done is way beyond anything I'm describing. He would be serving 10 years or more, if anyone bothered to pursue him. And the only reason why he was approved was due to fear of the wrath of the new king. He was spectacularly unqualified. Very typical of a Trump selection. Sometimes it almost seems like he goes out of his way to find somebody who is as morally bankrupt as he is. -

Trump Administration Begins Deportation Flights in Message of Zero Tolerance
Great! Trump made billions on crypto recently but he's totally not corrupt like Biden Krime Family, so I'm sure he's going to be paying for the flight. Because otherwise hard working American taxpayers are going to have to pay. How is that going to make us "richer"? Every hour that plane flys it costs us $32,000. Please explain. Be specific. 😀 The C-17 Globemaster III, a military cargo aircraft, has significant operating costs due to its size and complexity. Estimates for fuel, maintenance, and labor costs per flight hour vary but generally fall within this range: 1. Fuel Costs The C-17 consumes about 20,000 pounds of fuel per hour, depending on the mission profile. At current jet fuel prices (approximately $4.50 per gallon as of 2025), the fuel cost alone could range between $15,000 and $20,000 per hour. 2. Maintenance Costs Maintenance costs, including scheduled and unscheduled repairs, are estimated to be around $5,000 to $10,000 per flight hour. 3. Labor Costs Crew salaries and support personnel costs add another $1,000 to $2,000 per hour, depending on the size and skill level of the crew. Total Estimated Cost Per Hour Adding these together, the total operational cost per hour for a C-17 flight is approximately $21,000 to $32,000.
