Police in Khon Kaen arrested a 45 year old man and his 48 year old wife on charges of theft and possession of stolen property. The couple is accused of stealing valuable amulets from a residence, which the woman had nabbed while working as a housekeeper.

The stolen items, including several amulets such as the Phra Phuttha Chinnaraj Indochina and Luang Pu Thuat, as well as a gold necklace and jade-embedded gold ring, were later sold online by her husband.

The investigation began after a report was filed on January 6 about the theft of numerous amulets, valued at over 1 million baht, from a home. The complainant revealed they had hired a housekeeper before the theft, who stopped showing up for work after the items went missing.

This led the police to investigate further, identifying Niphaporn as the housekeeper. She was found to be working at a shop in Mueang district, Khon Kaen province. Aran, her husband, had been posting the stolen amulets for sale on social media, and the complainant recognised them as the missing items.

During questioning, Niphaporn admitted to stealing the amulets from the residence where she worked. She confessed to taking the items and having her husband sell them online to cover living expenses, such as rent and food, reported KhaoSod.

The police managed to track down and apprehend the couple.

Too bad she didn't have a job.  Having a job would have helped her meet those living expenses...

She was employed by the person that she stole from ?

Obviously no background checks easily available round here, but I definitely would have contacted a previous employer. Although no guarantees with that either. Hope she gets a hefty term because if you are willing to steal from your employer I doubt there’s many she wouldn’t steal from.
