To beard or not to beard, that's the question

I see many pictures of elder celebrities, with a beard.
Before they were clean shaved but as they grow older their shaving equiment seems to have retired.
Not only celebrities, but many people in Thailand (and in Spain now) show the same behavior.
I agree that above a certain age, 65+, shaving becomes very difficult and can sometimes be a PITA.
But it's not the end of the world.
Besides that, it's very easy nowadays to be clean shaved (laser hair removal).
So, did you grow a beard at your older days and why?

Beard/designer stubble......from about 40 onwards.....one reason and one reason only.....shaving everyday was a pain the ****.

At 53 my daughter (rip) told me my white beard made me now look too old.....I'd had a beard every moment of her life ....

I then shaved it for a few years,.. I've since gone into goatee mode ....

Me, happier days, not knowing what the future held in store.....

Men generally grow beards for three reasons

 

To compensate for the hair loss on their head

 

Because they have a baby face.

Asian women hate beards. Most foreigners eat farang foods along with our body chemistry makes us smell very differently. This is extremely off putting to Asians and if you're interested especially Asian women. I hate the look and especially the smell.

 

I'm always amazed here in Thailand when I see some guy with a beard with a woman in tow to be honest

 

Personally, I only eat Thai food and my wife's friends had mentioned to her that I don't have that peculiar farang smell.

 

Beards are smelly and aesthetically unappealing to Asian women.

 

I think what's even worse is that stubble look. Here you have neither a beard or clean shaven and it generally looks like an absolute mess not something aesthetically cool or pleasing.

 

No man living in Thailand should have a beard. End of story. If a Thai man wants to grow a beer that's completely up to him and that's within his social construct.

People actually spend money buying electric shavers that make them look as if they haven't shaved in two days! That just looks unshaven.

Makes no sense to me.

 

I stopped shaving the day I got out of the Military. I've worn a beard for over 55 years, and don't give a rat's ass if someone else likes or dislikes it. I keep it trimmed 12mm short and neat... because that's how I like it.

"shaving becomes very difficult" ? er it takes 5 minutes, for me every second day. Most retired guys have got all the time in the world. Too hot here anyway to have a beard. Maybe can understand in a cold climate.

What rubbish. Do you need someone to wipe you bum after 65 as well? At least you can see your face in a mirror.

Off topic advice. I use The Best a Man Can Get Fusion blade, which I keep in a small glass of vegetable oil. Can get well over a month's shaving from one unit.

It is oxidisation (rust) on the edge of the blade and not the actual cutting of the whiskers which blunt it. There is an ad on UK TV for Harry's Blades, which says you will get just as close a shave the eighth time as the first. Hahah Try it !

I wear a moustache since hair started to grow on my face and I wear it proudly. But I was ask many times to get it off as it was not "Thai".

Thai man don't shave.

Instead they use a small mirror and plucking device to take the hair out 1 by 1. It's a funny sight when they engage in a hair plucking seance.

I used to joke and answer when somebody ask me to shave my moustache that they don't know the pleasure of eating a pussy and enjoy 2 weeks from the smell and the taste everytime I lick mu moustache.

Their face is hilarious.

I'm struggling with razors here. Bic were cheap and decent, now price up 50%. Clearly poor value but the other fancy Gillette products are ridiculously overpriced. Thinking about going to single blade safety razor

 

Bic: 3 blade cartridge now tear my face up after two shaves.

I've had a tash or bear most of my life, then came to LOS and removed it. Then just had the stubble, seems there was a stubble trend.

 

Last week I decided to grow a beard back, see how long that lasts as Captain Birdseye......😁

 

Mind you, it will go down well next Christmas, ho-ho-ho.....

I can not shave with the regular blades. Need at least  2 blades to shave clean.

I used the white/orange single blades from the 20 baht shops. Cheap and good. I also used to like the blades cut in half like the hairdresser.

But as I grew older, and my hand was shaking, my face started to look like a battlefield and I went back to the 20 baht blades.

I would certainly agree with this post. To me, hair on my face is very uncomfortable and it make me look old. It also bothers my wife and tickles her inner thighs.
