Mother Reports Drug-Crazed Son to Police After Violent Rampage

At approximately 9:00 PM on 26 January, Ms. Jaroenrat Juthet, 63, arrived at Banglamung Police Station in Chonburi to request assistance in arresting her son, Mr. Krit "Mui" Khoksap, 37, who had allegedly gone on a violent rampage at their home in Nong Plalai Subdistrict. According to Ms. Juthet, her son had consumed a large quantity of illegal drugs, leading to erratic behaviour, destruction of property, and threats to kill the family. Officers led by Pol. Lt. Col. Kornpong Sukwisit, Deputy Superintendent of Investigations at Banglamung Police Station, immediately responded to the scene. Upon arrival at the unnumbered house in Soi Nong Ket Yai 3, officers found the living room and appliances in a state of complete disarray. Broken items and debris were scattered throughout the area. Mr. Khoksap was discovered barricaded inside his bedroom, having locked the door from within. Ms. Juthet feigned normality and knocked on the door to coax her son into opening it. As soon as he did, officers swiftly subdued and detained him. Mr. Khoksap exhibited signs of severe intoxication, including incoherent speech and aggressive behaviour. He continuously issued threats against his mother during the arrest. Inside the room, officers discovered paraphernalia for drug use, including remnants of methamphetamine pills and crystal meth. The suspect was transported to Pattaya Patthamakorn Hospital for a medical evaluation due to his alarming condition, which bore resemblance to severe psychiatric distress. However, upon arrival, Mr. Khoksap caused chaos by spitting at doctors and nurses, necessitating the use of a sedative injection to control his erratic behaviour. Speaking to reporters, Ms. Juthet explained that she had no choice but to contact the police as her son's drug abuse had become unbearable. She described how his addiction to methamphetamine and crystal meth had transformed him into a violent and unpredictable individual, leaving the family in constant fear. "He no longer recognises me as his mother," she said. "When he's high, he calls me by my name, 'Jaroen,' instead of 'mum.' Today, he's been under the influence since the morning, causing destruction all day long. We couldn't endure it any longer, so I had to report him." Picture from responders. A fatal collision occurred at approximately 07:35 in 27 January, near the entrance to Ban Nong Nae in Moo 2, Tambon Sa Phang, Khao Yoi District, Phetchaburi. The collision involved a timber truck and a cyclist, resulting in the death of the cyclist. Rescue volunteers from the Sawang Sanphet Rescue Foundation, together with emergency medical responders from the Nong Chumphon Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, rushed to the scene along the parallel lanes of Phetkasem Road heading towards Bangkok. Upon arrival, rescuers discovered the body of the deceased, a Myanmar national, lying face down near a green bicycle. The victim sustained severe head injuries, including a fractured skull, with skull matter scattered at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was riding their bicycle when they were struck by a Hino Mega timber truck. The impact caused the cyclist to be thrown into a signpost, leading to fatal injuries. The truck, which had sustained damage to its front-left side, was found approximately 350 metres from the collision site. Authorities also reported damage to public property, including a streetlight pole that was knocked down during the incident. After forensic examination by on-duty medical personnel and police officers, the body of the deceased was transported to Wat Tham Kaeo Temple by the Sawang Sanphet Rescue Foundation. The cause of the incident remains under investigation by local police. -- 2025-01-28
