January 13, 20251 yr Hi.. I was used to infaliable LG fridge in US and mine went out (compressor) in 3 years! Now, after reading blogs, I will avoid LG and Samsung. Also, Hitachi seems to be hit/miss. Given that I need a 18cuft (560plus Liters) fridge... I was looking for input about Mitsubishi fridge. Also, I would appreciate specific model number recommendations if somebody bought a fridge in the last FIVE years and it has been problem-free. Additionally, based on my experience, it seems that HomePro has the best customer service. Feel free to comment

Feel free to comment Homepro tend to be extortionately expensive for most things.........gutted to hear about your LG.....just bought one (would you believe from Homepro....5555). Shop around pricewise for sure. If you buy off Lazada only buy via LazMall.

Sometimes you just get a dud and there's nothing you can do about it. Luck of the draw. If it dies, just buy a new one. I've also got a couple of Mitsubishi upright freezers, also zero problems, many, many years old.
January 13, 20251 yr Whirlpool tend to make very good refrigerators, as very durable, and long lasting. If not buying a Whirlpool, I'd look for one that uses a Whirlpool motor/condenser, as some brands do. We have a Panasonic that does, and also a Whirlpool. Later being 13 yrs old, I think. Panasonic is at least 7, if not more, as don't remember if bought here, PKK, or had it before we got here.

January 13, 20251 yr Author It seems things were far better ten or more years ago. I haven't seen any good comment on LG/Samsung/Hitachi fridge that were bought in the last 5 or less yeqrs... i am seriously considering getting Panasonic (Comes from Japan) or Mitsubishi.
January 13, 20251 yr Although my Mitsubishi has lasted 12 years so far i fancy trying TCL next time, get a lot more value for money, buy Lazada/Shopee

January 14, 20251 yr I bought this one about 2 years ago. I like it. Mitsubishi Electric - MR-LX60ES https://www.mitsubishi-kyw.co.th/Product/For-Home/Refrigerator/4-Door/918-(1).aspx?lang=EN
January 14, 20251 yr LG had a major problem with what are called linear compressors which they started using in their fridges. Multiple lawsuits in the US. They updated them in 2018 but still had problems. In 2022 they went back to using standard compressors. I have a Samsung that must be close to 20 years old, only issue is the door seals have becomea bit stiff. Have an 11 year old Mitsubish that had an issue a few years ago with water leaking, left it to defrost totally and that seemed to fix it so possiblt the water drain got clogged up with ice and dust. Also have a Toshiba that is about 4 years old that has had no issues.

January 14, 20251 yr Our Mitsubishi refrigerator is 8 yo, never had a problem. I've owned Mitsubishi cars and aircons as well, no problem there either. IMO Mitsubishi have an extensive track record in making engines of all types, going back to when the Mitsubishi Zero ruled the skies for a while in WWII.
January 14, 20251 yr YES, go for it without any doubts. More expensive, but worth it. Mitsubishi is at the top end here. for me, I get only Mitsu now... Air con, Fan, Fridge.
January 14, 20251 yr I have a sharp fridge for over 20 years. Been moved 2 or 3 times since I bought it and still going strong. Seems like you bought a lemon.
January 14, 20251 yr It is always a difficult advice to give in this, there are plenty of people who are fond entoushiast with that brand, or another brand like Electrolux. Personally, I have had bad experience with Electrolux so I won't buy that myself. But Mitsubishi is also a reputable brand.....
January 14, 20251 yr I'm on my second fridge in 25 years. First was a Whirlpool I had for 13 years (moved once) and the new on is a Samsung I've had for 12 years which I moved once as well. Both were great. Got the Samsung because I wanted something bigger. I think all the name brands are pretty similar and (like air conditioners) many brands share components. I would just go find something I liked. I like glass shelves, and I would not get water in the door again, or an icemaker.
January 14, 20251 yr How do people get rid of their working fridge freezers? giveaway or marketplace?

Mitsubishi Electric - MR-LX60ES https://www.mitsubishi-kyw.co.th/Product/For-Home/Refrigerator/4-Door/918-(1).aspx?lang=EN Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at US and Singapore sites. ALL are cussing almost all brands. Sadly, Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Sharp, Kenmore, Frigidare are ALL bad. Another youtube had a brilliant video where he showed that almost all these are now subsumed in a very few corporations. For eg: Beko now owns Kenmore etc. Even Bosch got gobbled up by another corp. Singaporeans are complaining that their fridge are made in Thailand and are useless. It seems that manufacturing/QC is bad in US & Thailand LOL Now, Panasonic is built in Vietnam and am researching if those folks are bitching about it. Also, SubZero seems to be an impeccable brand, albeit a luxury brand, and there is a store in BKK that sells it. Will look into both. I can't imagine throwing away 30000 baht every 3 years!ridiculous!

Will be going to the store on Monday to look at it. In the interim, I will be googling heck of a lot after VPN-ing to Vietnam, Singapore, Aus etc. That way, I should get a good flavor of what to expect. So far, in SG folks were bitching about LG/Samsung/Hitachi as being "junk". What's sad is that (sorry to sound a bit conspiracy theorist) most of these corporations hv been hijacked by Private Equity or are being run by folks who came from that mindset! For eg: Boeing (my ex-employer) used to be fantastic when I was new outta college. Since 1990s, it's being run by Jack Welch (GE boss) cronies who were into profilts. On youtube, look at how PE is raping our land and slowly the entire world... all to make a billions.. folks be damned! There are numerous sites that discuss this issue. I am more into local optimization.
