Six-Year-Old Girl Pedestrian Dies in Road collision in Northaburi
Pictures captured from CCTV An incident occurred in Nonthaburi Province on the afternoon of January 14, leaving a six-year-old girl dead after being struck by a car. The incident took place at approximately 15:30 on Tiankoon Road, Klong Khun Mahathai in Pak Kret District, prompting an immediate response from local police and rescue services. The victim, identified as Miss Wannisa, a student from Wat Saphan Sung School, was found lifeless in the middle of the road. About 30 metres away, a black Honda CR-V with Bangkok registration plates was parked, its female driver visibly shaken. Her young son, who was a passenger in the car, was also distressed. The girl’s mother, upon being notified of the incident, rushed to the scene. Overcome with grief, she collapsed to the ground, clutching her daughter’s body as she wept inconsolably. CCTV footage from a nearby shop captured the tragic moment. Miss Wannisa, along with three friends, had been playing near a roadside pavilion when she suddenly dashed across the road. The oncoming car, unable to stop in time, struck her fatally. An eyewitness, a young boy, described the moments leading up to the accident: “The four of us were playing together by the roadside when Wannisa suddenly ran across the road. The car couldn’t stop in time and hit her.” Authorities have since reviewed the CCTV footage, confirming that the child unexpectedly ran across the road as the car approached. The driver is set to be questioned further to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. The girl’s body has been transported to the Institute of Forensic Science, as police continue their investigation to establish any additional contributing factors to the incident. -- 2025-01-15 -
