Hi,

I'm in the process of being made redundant, my last day in employment will be end of February. I plan to retire to Bangkok, and travel there straight after I leave work. I'm looking at the E visa Non O application, and have a couple of questions

Will I need to  have booked a return/onward flight leaving within the initial 90 days ? even though I plan to stay and apply for the 1 year extension...

Proof of earnings or proof of 800K Baht in bank. Can this be one of the savings accounts, and is a photo or electronic copy of screen shot adequate ?

Proof of address in UK, is photo of driving license ok for this ?

many thanks

No.

Re your other questions.

Do you have a Thai bank account in your name only?

Ah, no i don't, I might be doing something wrong , I didn't think you required a Thai bank account for the initial 3 month visa when applying online ? I thought it was just your current/recent earnings in the UK

You can obtain eVisa Non O in UK without Thai bank account.

Reason I ask is opening a Thai bank account from visa exempt entry is not easy.

You enter with Non O and receive a 90 day stamp.

The Non O status will enable you to open Thai bank account easily.

So good plan.

The other benefit is that for 12 month extension the funds do not need to be shown from abroad.

BTW: Wise is good option for transfer if you haven't looked into that.

This is great, thanks for the info, I was concerned about not having a return ticket as the I've heard at the UK airport they might raise this as an issue.

Just to clarify regarding the eVisa non O in UK, I do need to show UK bank statement with the 800K Baht ? can this be a savings account ?

At departure UK airport onward flight not required by airline as you have a Visa.

Flying visa exempt is another matter.

The UK bank statement does not need to be 800k baht.

It's much lower.

Someone will post first hand eVisa UK for Thailand financial requirements.

Here is recent thread and financials posted early in thread.

Understood... thanks

This is what's shown on the "supporting documents point 4", "4 . Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 65,000 THB or having the current balance of 800,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings " 😕

In that case need to show 800b equivalent in your bank account.

In any event you will need the 800k in your Thai bank account when you open the bank account.

To apply for the 12 month extension you require the 800k in the account for min 2 months.

Income method is not an option as UK embassy does not provide "income letter"
