Thai officials denied him entry due to a torn visa page in his passport.

I have known about this, so it really annoys me when some immigration officials try to staple stuff into my passport. I have had to stop a few of them at Chiang Wattana from doing that.

No, we are still well in front.

I know you are an Aussie, you know you are an Aussie, most posters on this forum know you are an Aussie. So why do you persist with this nonsense?

Congratulations You have won an, 8 week, all expense paid vacation at The Singapore Seaside Reform Facility.  You will enjoy the world class Bathing Facilities with free body scrub.  Daily massages by "Ton" who is said to have hands like visegrip pliers.  You'll have an in room fragrance dispenser with lively smells of rotten eggs and body odor.  Please don't forget to give us a 5 star review.  Enjoy

That should give him time to mullet over .

Singapore has online visa system and Changi airport has automated  passport gates with face recognition. If he had passed this quietly, no officer would have had a look at his passport at all.

But maybe AI alerted to an extra check due to the haircut ... ?

A disgruntled Australian man found himself behind bars after making a chilling threat to kill everyone at 35,000 feet. His off-the-cuff remark about crashing a plane left airport officials with no choice but to take him seriously.

Marli Curtis Philip Moncrieff embarked on what he thought would be a dream holiday from Perth to the sunny shores of Phuket with his girlfriend on November 20 last year. However, things took a nosedive when Thai officials denied him entry due to a torn visa page in his passport.

With Thailand off the itinerary, the 36 year old tourist’s nightmare continued as Singaporean immigration officials followed suit, leaving him stranded at Changi Airport.

Sequestered in a holding room while awaiting a Jetstar flight back to Perth, Moncrieff was reportedly seething over the wasted funds and annual leave gone awry.

The situation spiralled out of control during boarding when a flight attendant heard Moncrieff ominously declare, “I want the aircraft to crash and kill everyone.”

Alarmed, the crew acted swiftly, notifying the captain and having Moncrieff removed from the flight. A search of his luggage turned up nothing suspicious, but the damage was done.

Handed over to local police, Moncrieff ended up back at the Jetstar counter to arrange another flight home. Yet, he couldn’t resist doubling down.

An immigration officer overheard him telling his girlfriend, “If they put me on another flight, I will tell them I will crash the plane again.”

Asked to clarify his shocking statement, Moncrieff repeated his threat, expressing a desire to die or be jailed. His comments prompted the officer to alert the police, who swiftly arrested him.

In a letter of apology to the court, Moncrieff admitted he regretted alarming airport staff just doing their jobs. But Principal District Judge Toh Han Li wasn’t impressed.

“Mere words can have serious consequences.”

The judge clearly underlining the importance of aviation security in today’s climate. Noting that Moncrieff seemed aware of the weight of his words, the judge handed down an eight-week sentence for the threatening outburst.

Jetstar was asked for a comment on the incident but declined.

4 Things to ponder.

1) Looks Arab

2) 1788, Britain began transporting convicts to Australia as a penal colony.

3) Australians must be proud of their heritage.

4) His girlfriend must be really bright.

Oz should make him ambassador to the US, the new president will love him.

That hairdo will look great with a red cap.

Looks like failure to control his emotions got the better of him. Well if its his first time in prison, it should teach him a valuable lesson as I suspect he won't like it at all.

As said in a previous  post  Jetstar is an Australian low-cost airline headquartered in Melbourne, Victoria.  It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas.

Did I reply to your comment,  I don't think I did... but I think you mis- interpreted what I said. I know JetStar is owned by Qantus, I am an Aussie, I use JetStar.

Hopefully this will teach him to keep his mouth shut, feel sorry for the girlfriend.

is that because of the hair cut or his hyper lack of intelligence.

What does GF have to do with any of this?

It's the cheapest, and flies direct BKK to Perth, my last few trips have all been with Jetstar. Certainly a no frills airline, and lots of smelly trashy low budget travelers onboard, last flight we did in mid December, BKK to Perth, the dirty backpacker sitting next to my TGF took his shoes off and his feet stank terrible, my TGF then wore a facemask for the whole trip of block out some of the smell. Flying with Jetstar is not much fun, but as I say...the cheapest fares, direct flights to BKK, and so far they have always been on time.

Thai also fly PTH BKK direct, admittedly a bit more expensive but a far more pleasant experience .

Guy is clearly in the wrong, but if all started over a torn page in passport it highlights some of the stupid pedantic traditions the aviation/immigration industry cling onto. Surely they could have allowed entry and imposed conditions to ensure the issue was rectified
