Yesterday, January 23, police arrested seven suspects, aged between 16 and 20 years old, for abducting a 25 year old woman from a condominium in the northern province of Chiang Mai, brutally assaulting her, and stealing her cash and mobile phone.

In an aggressive move against financial crime, the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has heightened its crackdown efforts. Since December 2024, under the leadership of AMLO Secretary-General Tepsu Bowonchodidara, the office has set its sights on assets tied to drug trafficking, fraud, and online gambling. The initiative aims to prevent crime by monitoring over 72,031 individuals, leading to the closure of more than 680,000 mule accounts, thus safeguarding millions from fraudulent misuse.

Bangkok's Air Crisis Escalates: Fourth Worst Globally for Pollution

Bangkok's air quality plummeted dramatically today, landing it the unenviable position of being the fourth most polluted city in the world, as reported by the Swiss monitoring entity IQAir. The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) rocketed to an alarming 188 by 9.40am, with the fine particulate matter PM2.5 spiking well above safety standards.
