Last night, January 22, Bangla Road in Patong came under the spotlight as Chaiwat Junthiraphong, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA), led an extensive inspection to bolster security in Phuket's bustling nightlife district. This effort is part of a sweeping campaign to tackle issues jeopardising the stability and appeal of this prominent tourist region.

The operation zeroed in on six critical areas dictated by the Ministry of Interior: drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal firearms, gambling, unauthorised entertainment venues, and the influence of powerful entities. Chaiwat underscored Phuket's vital role in Thailand's economy and tourism industry, stressing the necessity for a secure and inviting environment.

"Phuket is not just a province; it’s a symbol of Thailand’s economic and tourism strength. Maintaining safety here benefits the entire nation," Chaiwat stated.

He praised local police for their relentless efforts and encouraged continued dedication, highlighting the power of cooperation. Chaiwat emphasised a zero-tolerance stance on activities disrupting social order, directing officials to overcome any hindrances to progress.

This inspection forms part of broader initiatives designed to fortify Phuket's image as a safe haven for both tourists and residents. With Bangla Road as a major draw, the ongoing crackdown delivers a clear message: Thailand is committed to safeguarding its cherished tourist hubs.

In recent times, Patong has witnessed heightened police actions targeting illegal activities, striving to reinforce public safety and uphold law and order. From drug offences to traffic violations, authorities have intensified measures to ensure criminal behaviour faces necessary consequences.
