The original poster mentioned Linux.

This laptop is running Ubuntu, a popular flavour of Linux.  I'm running multiple tabs on Chrome, just like I do on my Windows PC.  Linux is open-source, so it's free to use and there are no licences.  It also boots up and runs faster than Windows 1x because it's not bloatware.

Before you all rush to convert your computers (did I mention I'm an optimist?), be aware that occasionally it needs some technical awareness, e.g. to complete a Chrome update.  It's not difficult, and it's worth it, but I want to be transparent.  Overall, I recommend it, but conditionally.

I am consistently surprised that  people keep asking for advice about their health and their difficulties with modern tech on ASEAN Forums.

Pharmacists are trained to treat minor ailments and will tell you if they can't and you need to see a doctor.

The internet abounds in people ( geeks, nerds, coders, tech guys etc)  who will tell you exactly how to fix your laptop, your car, your AC , your sewing machine etc etc, with a helpful video - plus ( and this is a big plus)  they will never insult you.

WHO is asking for ADVICE?
I told in my OP that I made already the decision to install LINUX on my notebook because of the continuous hassle with Microsoft and asked the OPINION of other users on this decision.
I am fully aware of the existing "Cheats" on the Internet to install an upgrade on your system despite the warnings of Microsoft, but that was not what I had in mind.
Of course, some readers here need to get a course on READING ENGLISH.

I am consistently surprised that people keep giving "advises" which were not asked for and consistently want to get appraisal for their ranting and accusations.

Like accusing me now for posting insults in YouTube and the UNFOUNDED accusations he posted before.
What's next?
Accusing me of planning the 7/11 attack on the twin towers?
I have pity with that person.
Must be spending his whole day looking at accusing people in posts in Aseannow while living in Thailand.
What a pathetic person.

He reminds me of an old German guy in out village who used to spend his whole day at his computer, reading how people get around the software keys and in the evening he came to the local pub telling his rants to everybody and expecting the consumers to buy hin a drink.
Pathetic.

Microsoft Windows keep evolving and is adapting their OS to the new versions of the PROCESSOR, the version 8, which has code for a lot of hardware that was not exsisting 2 years ago.
"C" ports instead of USB ports, SSD instead of physical hard disks, Memory cards, etc.
Using Windows 23H2/24H2 on an older system can lead to data loss or computer malfunctioning.
I take their advice anytime above the "ILL ADVICES" in this group of how to cheat Microsoft.

If you have automatic updates, you should not worry, a new version will come automatically. I bought a Win10 Pro, this is what I have now from automatic updates...

If you have an unsupported version, Look at this video after about 16 minutes, works every time, did on this on three computers at home.

Don't forget to download the ISO from the Microsoft site. Which he shows you at the start of the video.

What an ugly looking character in that link, I know facial hair is fashionable now but that is just ridiculous.

Update!

Ignoring (security) updates is a bad idea.

Depends on perspective I guess.

I found a small exe on the web that mods the registry to think the next update is in 20 years.

Been happy without fear of turning my machine into a brick or consrant nagging  for over three years.

I'm good to go. Next update I do to win10 is linux!

If your PC is connected to the internet, then you should always install (security) updates!

End of discussion.

However, not mentioned in your original post, apart from considering a Linux OS instead of Win11...

Quote

Yesterday, my notebook warned me about some importabt updates on Windows 11.
But on the update screen, an exclamation sign appeared and warned me to buy a new version of Windows 11 as my version reached the "end of updates.".
I went to the Microsoft site, and the end of updates was after 2 years of installation.

So, I would need to reinstall Windows 11 and all the software again OR wipe Windows completely from ho hard disk and install Linux (which was already my plan long ago).
I can keep Windows on an USB drive with the programs I might occasionaly and are not available on Linux.
What would your option be?

I just tried to be helpful...😉

Actually you asked:

and when we told you that we would just install 23H2 or 24H2 as normal, you freaked out and started with the abuse 😊

Why would you do that if you ASKED people what they would do? Seems nutty, doesn't it?

Now you are ranting about CHEATING, whilst ignoring the fact that Microsoft provided the Registry workaround. How do you explain that? Microsoft cheating themselves? 😊

Sometimes it's better to use your intelligence, rather than to just react emotionally without it.

This is actually quite pitiful.

USB-C, SSD and memory cards weren't existing two years ago?

You are obviously desperately looking for an angle to justify your behaviour.

USB-C is simply a connector type, from 2014.

SSD are from the '50s. PCIe SSD from 2007

So all of your assertions are totally erroneous.

It's actually quite sad, the way you are behaving. Really just making a fool of yourself. Again, why ask people on the options they would take and then proceed to abuse them and argue with their choices?

I appreciate your try to be helpful, but that was not asked for in my OP.
I only asked an "OPINION about which to chose from, upgrading my Notebook to suit Microsoft or installing Linux".
I didn't ask for the ways to "CHEAT MICROSOFT" warning of installing Win 11 23H2/24H2 on a not supported system.
