How to get a Tokae out of the ceiling?

Er....a 'i metre long gecko' is either a monitor lizard or a baby crocodile,😀

It was likely some sort of lizard. It was huge. And it hated the insect spray I liberally doused it with. It sort of passed out. I then removed it from our bedroom ceiling eve, where it was making a real nuisance of itself.

  • I love listening to them and counting the number of calls they make, I've lived in several houses that have one and I've never tried to get rid of it, they do eventually move away though.

  • Shouldn’t the man of the house be doing those sorts of tasks? Do you do the dishes?

  • They eat a lot of skeeters so be careful what you wish for.

i had the same problem a few years ago in a rental house. this is how i solved it:

near the spot where the gecko was hiding in the ceiling, there was a terrace with a built-in lamp. i removed the lamp and closed the opening at first. when it got dark, i opened it again and set up a bright light outside. the light attracted insects, and the gecko hunts insects. around midnight, i closed the opening again. i repeated this process for several days until the gecko stopped returning to the ceiling. maybe this method is worth a try for you too. good luck!
