Indian-Thai man accuses delivery rider of spying, threatens to kill him

An Indian-born man, who also holds Thai citizenship, brutally attacked and threatened to kill an app-based Thai delivery rider at his home in Soi Hua Mak 8, in the Bang Kapi district of Bangkok, yesterday, January 29.

 

A witness called officers from Hua Mak Police Station to the scene at approximately 3.30pm after seeing the foreign man dragging an app-based delivery rider, later identified as 46 year old Uthit, into his home. A gunshot was fired inside the house, leaving the witness and locals in the area frightened.

Upon the police’s arrival, an elderly woman, suspected to be the attacker’s mother, greeted the officers and led them to the living room. Police reported that the suspect, identified as 46 year old Siri-arnon, was intoxicated, reeking of alcohol, with bloodshot eyes.

 

The victim, Uthit, was found inside the house with wounds and bruises across his body. Five pistols were placed on a table in the room. Uthit was transferred to hospital, while the attacker was taken to the police station for questioning.

Siri-arnon told police that multiple riders had come to his home over the past four to five days. He claimed those riders attempted to enter his residence and acted like spies, gathering information about him for someone. He believed that Uthit was one of these spy riders.

Assault and death threat

 

Uthit denied the accusation, explaining that a woman booked him for a parcel delivery service and instructed him to collect a parcel from Siri-arnon’s home. Upon arrival, Uthit contacted his client to get the parcel but the woman ignored his inquiries.

According to Uthit, the woman asked him to count how many vehicles were in the house and describe them. While following the client’s instructions and relaying the information, Siri-arnon and a woman left the house in separate cars.

Uthit said he stood in front of the house, confused about where and how to collect the parcel. Suddenly, Siri-arnon returned home, got out of his car, rushed towards him, kicked his motorcycle, and then attacked him.

 

Uthit alleged that Siri-arnon accused him of being a spy and repeatedly hit him on the head with his gun. He revealed that what terrified him most was the death threat, as Siri-arnon reportedly told him that he would, “bury you with a stray dog outside.”

Siri-arnon allegedly fired a gunshot and continued physically assaulting Uthit until his mother intervened and the police arrived. Uthit said he repeatedly tried to prove his innocence and explain his delivery job, but Siri-arnon refused to listen.

 

Alleged jealousy problem

Uthit suspected that the woman who booked his service was Siri-arnon’s jealous wife and that she wanted to know who was with her husband while she was away.

As of now, police have not confirmed the rider’s assumption but have already charged Siri-arnon with two offences:

 

Section 295 of the Criminal Law: physically assaulting another person and causing mental or physical injury. The penalty is up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both.

Section 310 of the Criminal Law: detaining a person, leading to death or severe injury. The penalty is imprisonment for three to 15 years.

In a similar case reported last week, another Indian-born sedan driver allegedly crashed his car into an app-based food delivery rider with intent, resulting in the rider’s death. The driver was arrested but later released on 600,000 baht bail. No further updates on the case have been provided.

That should have rang the alarm bells for the driver that it's not about the delivery but rather some other purpose the woman asked him for. Why he just didn't go away and ended the conversation?

He might lose his citizenship over this... but hey, destination visa might still be an option.

If it was his wife who sent the driver to determine if there were other cars parked there, she might have done it with the other delivery drivers too.

 

After 5 delivery drivers showed up at his house counting cars, he would at the least be suspicious of something going on.

Sounds like spying to me. Perhaps his wife hired them misleading them to do spying while she was gone.

Sounds like more of the tailors gangs of Sukhumvit near Soi 8.  Possibly crooks. they  buy the police.  Challenge them over issues with something you've asked them and paid them to make.   One had a cop follow me and drag me back for challenging him.

most likely his family lives already few generations in Thailand and have no bond to India, but still they get called Thai-Indian. Always remember, Thailand is one of the racist nation. As long you are not Sino-Thai, they will spit on you.

If an Indian citizen acquires foreign citizenship, they are required to renounce their Indian citizenship. The Indian government mandates that citizens who take up foreign nationality must notify the Indian authorities and surrender their Indian passport. This is because, under Indian law, acquiring foreign citizenship automatically results in the termination of Indian citizenship.

 

Yes, I am aware that citizenship can be revoked for dual nationals on the morals and good order clause. However, if an individual only has one nationality and it is a Thai citizenship, is Thai because a parent was a Thai, and they are residing in Thailand,  their citizenship cannot be revoked . Thailand cannot create a stateless person. If that was the case, it would have revoked the citizenship rights of the Thaksin clan long ago following the  multiple military coups.

 

Describing someone as Thai-Indian is a biased colonial approach. Someone is either a Thai or an Indian national . They may have an ethnic origin of Indian, but that does not make them any less a Thai.

This is one of the truest statements ever made on this forum. 

My Thai wife fits this bill. She and most Thais have always something negative to say about Khmer, Lao, Burmese and Malays from the southern provinces, but she rarely has anything bad to say about the Chinese in LOS.

My wife is Northern Khmer from Surin Province and she really hates going to Bangkok. If we stay in a nice hotel, she says, she can feel those views from the people. But then in the same time she bows in front of the local Sino-Thai in the village, which is just a drunkard. That is thai logic, I will never understand.

that is sad and disappointing to hear. I truly believe the Thai psyche have been conditioned and basically brainwashed to believe that The Chinese can do no wrong. Thais envy the work ethics, family dynamics, business acumen and ambitious nature of the Chinese and regard them as saviors of their country's economy, political system and wealthy elites.
