Look, Trump does have the power to devastate Canada. Even possibly weaken it to a failed state where his disgusting goal of hostile annexation could be possible.

But why would the USA want to do that to Canada!?!

That's evil and insane and Trump is a total psychopath for trying.

That's hilarious. If you were good looking you might've been able to get a job on CNN.

Good point. The Cdn government are their own worst enemy. They quashed the Trans Canada pipeline from coast to coast. They won't allow any more refineries or NGV plants. Canada has huge O&G reserves and are landlocked and unable to ship it. All in the name of CO2 Carbon...the Carbon tax on everything is another handcuff.

They did it to themselves. Canada has so many natural resources the should be richer than Dubai.

The Trans Canada Pipeline system involves more than 40,000 kms of large diameter pipe.

I've spent my lifetime working on it

Map doesn't include the newly completed Trans Mountain to Vancouver

Quebec stopped Energy East

I've got to be honest, I'm a bit confused about Trump's attitude to Canada. He can't seriously expect them to become the 51st state so there must be something else at play - any guesses?

Setting that to the side, I can see why he got annoyed re illegal immigration from Canada - Mexicans worked out they could fly there and enter overland as mentioned on this link.

Those of us who support the fight of Ukrainians for their sovereignty can't be encouraged by Trump's attempt to annex Canada. The Kremlin propagandists are eating it up.

So, you support the right of UA to defend its borders but are against Trump stopping the invasion in the south from Mexico?

I was talking about Trump's threats to annex Greenland and Canada.

He's just suspended the Mexico tariff for a month in exchange for 10 000 Mex troops being sent to secure the border.

It's kind of funny because we Canadian are pretty laid back and we do a lot of squabbling amongst ourselves but this latest effort has united the country 100%

Booing the star spangled banner is just incredibly bad manners.

Shame on Canadians for stooping so low.

Take the high road you idiots. Boo with your wallets. Buy stuff made in Canada.

Idiots!

Trudeau tried to get a call through to Trump for days leading to this action to TALK about what kinds of agreements could be done to prevent this escalation. Trump wouldn't take his calls. He also said explicitly in a presser that he didn't want to talk.

Why would he want to speak to Trudes?

Mr Trump thinks of Mr Trudeau as "very weak and very dishonest."

The Liberal Party of Canada has been a disaster for average working Canadians since 2015. Too focused on putting tampons into men's washrooms and pronouns instead of considering consequences of overimmigration and limited affordable housing supply, esp in the bigger cities.

And also paves the way for a WEF clone like Carney to take over.

That scenario could be the final nail in the coffin for Canada. Another globalist takes over. I heard a universal basic income would not be off the table, especially if the tariffs are destructive for long.

The Liberal Party had 10 yrs to grow and diversify Canada's wealth but instead obsessed about pronouns and menstruation for men.

I watched this political analysis on Youtube about 2 years ago.

This guy has already predicted that Canada will break up.

Maybe only parts of Canada will join the US?

British Columbia is 40% Asian and may be more allied to China than the US?

Complex politics, and a lot of it is over my head.

But some people predicted it long before Trump opened his fat trap.

Trump folds like a cheap tent when confronted

So, it was agreed we appoint a fentanyl czar,

Someone to look after the 44 lbs that were intercepted at the border

Maybe I'll apply, a good work from home gig.

Something about American banks being allowed into Canada.

American banks were always allowed into Canada IF they followed our banking regulations, which they chose not to. They are a lot tighter than the us.

We didn't have the Mortgage Ponzi scheme in Canada that crashed the world in 2008 because that kind of security in not allowed

There have been no price increases due to  tariffs as the tariffs have not been applied yet!

They were meant to come into force tonight US time but they have been suspended for 30 days!

Again, the war on drugs have been ongoing since 1971, what will change now?

Illegal drugs has a marked in Usa, and some corrupt high ranked officials making a fortune out of it.

Can it be stopped?

How many more have to be imprisoned in Usa to make a difference?
