Is the drug exporting country responsible for the high number of users in another country?

It seems Trump wants to punish Mexico and China for drug exporters in their country.

To me it seems the problem are all the users in the USA who consume lots of drugs. If nobody would want to consume drugs, then no drugs would be imported.

 

It seems the biggest consequence of fewer imported drugs are higher drug prices. And that brings more crime because more addicts commit more crimes to pay for their drugs.

 

So, what's the point of blaming the exporters?

 

Currently this is a big issue in the USA. But obviously it is not restricted to American.

IMHO if countries want fewer drug users, then they should motivate those users not to take drugs. That is the only real long-term solution.

If he wanted to pull a Duterte and allow Americans to kill drug dealers i would support that. Or even better maybe dont allow the criminals from south america to pour into the country. Your post is just to blame Americans, not helpful in the slightest

Welcome. Its de rigeuer for the non Americans (usually Euros)  here to just hystericaly screech and spittle spew hate about America and Americans. Its gotten worse since they started to realize the free ride is coming to an end.

And why should anybody blame Mexicans and Canadians and Chinese people for the fact that many million US citizens use illegal drugs? Americans want to take those drugs; nobody is putting a gun to their head and forces them to take drugs.

If anybody here thinks Americans wouldn't want any drugs if nobody would import them, then please explain why.

Maybe you have some interesting thoughts which I didn't consider.

I find it curious that President Musk made sure that, while Mexico and Canada got a 25% tariff, China only got hit with a 10% tariff. And, mark my words, any business that supports MAGA will receive tariff exemptions. Crony capitalism at its worst.
