"From 2009 to 2019, USAID partnered with EcoHealth Alliance on the PREDICT program, which identified 1,200 new viruses, trained 5,000 people globally in disease detection, and enhanced 60 research labs. This partnership provided the CIA with a direct channel for embedding human assets within biological research facilities worldwide in exchange for funding and technology transfers."

When was Trump President first time around?

I see Rubio is now in charge of USAID!

Trump was a bit busy.

Do you support the changes now, or not?

You know... you post your Anti-Trump hate always. But, i only read about the politicians complaining for the most part. So far Trumps actions with USAID seem appropriate. They need to look at how the spending is being used. I do not see too many normal people complaining about his actions. When millions are being wasted at their expense. Audits need to take place and accountability needs to be shown. The Dems can complain all they want to but the people want change and a better place to live with a better future and lower costs. This is Trumps time to do what he can to appease his campaign promises with which he was voted for to do. You do not even give it a chance because your hate rhetoric only sees something to complain about.

Are you even an American or are you just someone wanting something to complain about?

If you are American then you, like everyone else should give the man a chance to show his reasons. So far he has found just cause for his actions. There is wasteful spending of the taxpayers money causing the national debt to increase drastically each year.

If you don't have a clue about the Constitution, I guess Trump's actions would seem appropriate. But given that USAID is funded by Congress, Trump has no authority to dismantle it. As the Chief Executive has has sworn to faithfully uphold the laws. Not undermine them.

There is zero doubt that Trump and Musk are trying to install a dictatorship in every way they can get away with. They will push everything to their absolute limits. They won't even listen to supreme court rulings if they go against them. Voters were warned but they were just too stupid to heed to the warnings.

There is no doubt to you.

The world sees the reality of what Trump is.

Maga cult members will take some time or at least until the leapard eats their face.

Even the Kremlin gets that the USA democratically elected a dictator. They are thrilled!

The constitution does not say the US must send money to another country for condoms. It does not say we must send money to ughurs or anyone else other than aiding Americans. You want to quite laws and the constitution then perhaps you should show links as to what laws or what part of the constitution he violated by shutting programs down not intended for aiding americans?

You don't even understand the issue.

You clearly don't understand that the Consititution delineates the duties and limitations of various branches of government. It doesn't address the issues of the day. That's what legislation is for. Once the sitting President signs a bill into law, that's it. It the duty of the executive branch to enforce that law.

I agree with you that he seems to be acting on that assumption.

What's the issue?

When all is  said and done and every agencies books are open through DOGE efforts!,the funding or proposed  funding of

millions of dollars worth of Condoms might be small potatoes!

Smart move for the Head of state (The POTUS) to assign the Sec of State (Rubio)to oversee the USAID department!

Rubio has weighed in...

“Well, that was always the goal was to reform it, but now we have rank insubordination,” Rubio told Fox News, in comments just one day after President Trump announced that Rubio would serve as the acting head of USAID – which itself came after Elon Musk’s DOGE team descended upon the agency and revealed that “USAID is a ball of worms. There is no apple. And when there is no apple you just need to get rid of the whole thing. That’s why it’s got to go. It’s beyond repair.“

According to Rubio, “Now we have basically an active effort — their basic attitude is, ‘We don’t work for anyone, we work for ourselves, no agency of government can tell us what to do.”

Trump and Musk are likely two of the least charitable people in the history of mankind based on their wealth. And here they are taking a few hundred million dollars from some organizations that are actually doing something and helping people to avoid starvation and destitution. Neither of these creeps care one iota about the suffering of their fellow man, it means nothing to them, they would rather give a couple couple of trillion to their super rich buddies and their corporations in tax breaks, than spend a few hundred million helping very poor people avoid their terrible fate.

The deplorables at work.

Well said Mr Mike they are indeed the worst specimens I can think of as far as any charitable feelings to others.

So you don't figure that putting a stop to spending US taxpayer money on drag queen story hours in Lower Slobovia would free up more money for worthwhile programs?

The president can stop the programs, and then he has 45 days to report to Congress what he has done and why.  Then Congress can act to rescind, or not.

How long has Trump been in office?  Has it already been 45 days?  Time sure flies when you're winning bigly.  Probably drags by if you're losing.

Edit:  But I suspect at the rate that DOGE is uncovering malfeasance, enough will be revealed in 45 days that it would be political suicide for Congress to resist.

The USAID is still "open for business" under the aegis of the State Department. Lies as usual from the number 1 America hater on this Forum.

Thank you, Saved me from having to point that out.

Personally, I am unaware of any reason that it should be down to the US to be the main provider of support to countries that have ruined themselves, and refuse to control their population when they can't support the numbers being born.

If the US cuts aid to certain countries, the Euros and other countries can put themselves further into debt to make it up, if they care that much.

Perhaps the wealthy in those countries could support their needy citizens themselves. I'm sure they are not short of a $ or 3.

While I do not oppose scrapping the USAID office and moving it to State, I believe that it can only happen if congress approves it.

One assumes it will be yet another nonsense for the SCOTUS to rule on.

I think taking a look at the entire aid program is a good thing, but I think cutting off every single program in the interim was downright cruel, and demonstrated Trump and Musk's total and complete lack of compassion for anyone under their station in life.

Trump has been undermining laws since the late 1970s, do you really think he's going to stop now? He's an expert at skirting the law, and is the polar opposite of a Law and Order president.
