Please don't give Bob ideas like that!
His next topic will be that he is going to have a sex change and marry one of his ladyboy friends so he can get a free Thai passport/citizenship!
Why are you taking it so personally?
You said you would "do it my way" based on Somchai's information. In your own mind, you are all sorted. What's the problem?
We are meeting in person. I am taking my time to get to know her better and not rush into anything. Cannot handle long distance at all, it's a situation I did not expect to find myself in, especially at my age. One of main concerns of mine is her staying in Isaan by herself while I figure out my stuff. A year or two? She has grandparents to support and some business ideas to keep her busy, but from my past experience with women back home I learned they find someone local pretty quick if they are bored. My ex found someone practically overnight when I moved 200 miles away for work lol. And I was driving back and forth to meet every weekend. This is way worse and I guess I'll just try my luck
Pertinent questions for sure. I have no idea about the original source of the only "cash in the bank" phrase. I read it on various threads and it was repeated as fact on an ExpatTaxThailand video where a T.R.D. official was present. What to believe?
Agreed.
That is what pi***ed me off last year when I read about investment profits being taxed. I didnt feel they were entitled to tax on gains accrued over previous years. What made it worse for me was thinking both the capital gains AND original capital were assessable. My bad. Your reply to me about CGT has actually come as a relief.
That would be good though I wont hold my breath waiting. My investments as at the 31st December 2024 showed an increase of around 17% compared to 31 December 2023. Not tax resident in 2024.
I foresee heads exploding on both sides of the tax office counter. Badly handled by TRD considering they have had plenty of time to prepare for this.
I've looked through my notifications, and don't see any message warning me of the change. It is of course possible that it came by some other means - Shopee sends so many emails, notifications, and Line messages every day that I tend to ignore them.
I'm pretty sure that the notification would have been from the ShopeePay app and not Shopee.
