That will not help in most cases.

It will work If they Have to get an Full Cover Insurance . The Insurance Must Pay. No Excuses.

Pay or Stay Away  Or  Refused Entry into the country.

Well an old friend did just that in January. I hadn’t seen him in 20 years but we kept in touch. He’d just retired this fall. His wife had work, his daughters too, so he came alone.

We had a fine two weeks, but not all time spent together.  Still at 65 no issues even anfter climbing 2 mountains and got home safe. He did have travel insurance.

Until the whole story comes out everything will be speculation

Queue pages of sensational speculation by the expat armchair sleuths.....

Typical statement to boost amount of comments, but suppose someone always states the obvious, well done

If a Go Fund Me account is based on a completely false premise, is that a criminal offence of fraud?

This is intended as background information, not speculation.  Speaking in general terms and with no specific reference to the case of James Sangwine, a deliberate GoFundMe fraud could be considered theft by deception in the UK and the US.

On a separate note, but again, as background info and not speculation:  it is standard practice for the police in many countries not to release  to the press or public details of the death of a tourist who met his end under circumstances which could prove embarrassing to his family. It's  relatively rare, but it does happen tourists die because of drunken misadventure or accidental drug overdose. It can be the reason a family member  "disappears"  while abroad.  The  police or embassy will tell the family the real circumstances, but then all info dries up.

Carradine was a TV and movie star with a huge following.  It would have been impossible to keep the details of his death from the public.  Celebrities sacrifice privacy for fame and are treated differently by authorities and the press.,

I was under the impression that autopsies were mandatory in Thailand.

Get run over by a truck; autopsy.

Fall from 25th floor balcony; autopsy.

Shot in the head; autopsy.

Savaged by dogs; autopsy.

Hanging off a balcony with a bag over the head, hands tied behind the back. (Suicide).

Whatever, whenever there's a fatality they have an autopsy 🤷

Organ harvesting

So true. And, it is no way guaranteed that the whole story will come out.

Well, we will just have to wait and see.

The British Embassy hasn't had a clue about anything going on in Thailand since about 1972.

Fundraiser (begging) again. What about the family paying; or what about insurance beforehand. Many travelers fork out for insurance. Those who dont know the consequences.; or what about a funeral in Thailand!

I agree with u. I pay 200£ a year for my travelinsurance. If i die in another country my insurance take care of everything.

Same here, pay annually for family travel insurance through work whether I use it or not. The only instances it wouldn't pay out is if it is drug or alcohol related, war and possibly suicide if I recall correctly.

Regarding fundraising comments raised by others, he could have bought it but it may be password locked in an email account and they don't know which company it is. Me personally, I email the policy documents to my wife and also always take a printed copy.

I allways have a printed copy same u do.My insurance dont pay if i renting a motorcycle or a car without a valid driving license and have a accident.Specially if drunk driving Its easy for ur embassy to find out if the person have a valid travel insurance.I pay 20£ a month for my insurance and its valid from i leave my front door at home.

I get food poison last year in Bangkok.Went to the hospital and after a quick call to the company they told the hospital that they would pay the bill. The partner company in Bangkok showed up fast and everything was ok.

I know about a foreigner who had a motorcycle accident in Thailand and he didn't have insurance. He is stucked there with a bill about 10 million baht.He stayed in hospital many months with many surgeries.

No one is "too young to die"...people die all over the world at young ages, that's just life.

Moderators, please consider closing this thread, there is far too much speculation going on here - mostly negative, some downright nasty.

All par for the course here on the majority of threads.  If you don't like the thread, no one is making you follow it so there's no need for you to try to give closing instructions to the Mods.

It would need a complaint to the police from an affected party, I'd guess.

Given that you clearly didn't read the OP...

"A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) stated: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and we are in contact with the local authorities.”

Don't listen to your uninformed "friend in the embassy".

If you have any more information please enlighten me and the rest of this forum?
"Tragically, after several days, he was found deceased. As of now, Thai authorities have not released details regarding the circumstances or cause of his death."
The best part of 3 weeks and we still don't know what happened to him? Either he was James Bond or why would there be such an intentional mystery around his death, you seem quite clued up about this disagreeing with everything everyone suspects so reckon you should tell everyone your theory.

I am not in any position to give the Mods instructions and you are in no position to tell me what to do. It was a request thanks.
