A 54-year-old man has been apprehended in Tak province while attempting to smuggle computer equipment and surveillance cameras across the border to a notorious call centre gang in Myawaddy, Myanmar. The operation, which took place yesterday, was spearheaded by Police Lieutenant General Kittisak Durongkiboon alongside various enforcement teams.

The suspect, Anusak Wongnoi, hailing from Mae Sot district, was caught with an extensive haul, including 26 routers, 17 empty computer cases, 76 CCTV cameras, a server unit, and 305 metres of Internet cables. Authorities also discovered 100 CCTV camera stands, 40 Internet connection devices, 20 signal converters, and seized cash totalling 173,020 baht.

This significant bust resulted from a concerted police effort, involving routine patrols and established checkpoints, particularly scrutinising key routes in the area. Anusak’s vehicle was duly halted and scrutinised in Village 4, Mae Cha Reu subdistrict, Mae Ramat district, leading to the discovery of the concealed items.

Preliminary investigations hint at the equipment's intended destination being a call centre gang, reportedly shifting its base of operation to Myawaddy, Myanmar. Both the confiscated goods and the suspect have been handed over to the Mae Ramat police for subsequent investigation and legal procedures. This operation highlights the persistent efforts to dismantle illegal smuggling circuits and curb unlawful undertakings in border regions.
