I love how this article focuses on "Foreigner overstaying visa arrested..." rather than that a pedophile and child porn purveyor had been loose in Thailand.

Because he was busted  breaking the Thai laws in a Thai jurisdiction.

Pathetic isn’t it. Ok, I get that the overstay is just a quick way to take him into custody for the time being, so has to be mentioned, but clearly it is dwarfed by the crimes he is alleged to have committed in the USA. The main issue for Thai people is that an alleged foreign pedophile has been living in their midst.

i also wonder what he did to be deemed “suspicious”, resulting in a tip off to the Thai police. If not for that, he would continue to live in Thailand under the noses of the local cops.

Oh of course.  That is what's important!  Not that sexual predators have the highest level of recidivism, or that he is wanted for production & distribution of child porn.  It doesn't even state how many months or years he has overstayed in Thailand nor how he supported himself while hiding out in Thailand.

OMG, yet another Quality Tourist from United States? Stricter visa rules are required, especially for nationals of certain countries like United States, Russia, Ukraine, China, UK, Poland, Romania, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Belarus, Korea, Uzbekistan and some other countries. Visa free scheme should be abolished for those countries. A proper entry visa should be obtain prior to entering Thailand in their home country including criminal background checks and possibly mental health check-up.

Thai immigration authorities have arrested a 57-year-old American man, identified only as Mr. Negri, in Nakhon Ratchasima for overstaying his visa. Subsequent investigations revealed that he is wanted by the FBI and the state of Georgia for child exploitation and the distribution of child pornography.

Hi honey I might be late home tonight.

How do these people get thru immigration?  They are seen as tourist dollars, that's how.

The almighty buck/dollar/baht rules supreme in Thailand.

No question about how they are allowed out of the country they committed the crimes in?

After legal proceedings in Thailand are completed, immigration officials will arrange for his deportation to the U.S., where he is expected to face trial.

Nah ,Take him down the Back Ally  and  don't bring him back.

Do you not know that arresting overstayers is the top priority for the police in Thailand - which is obvious by the number of police that are in the photoshoots when one is taken into custody?

In this case however, it appears that it was justified - more by luck than by investigative police work, but it will no doubt be hailed as the reason why all overstayers are hounded, taking up many hours of police time that could be better spent doing "proper" police work!

If he is fbi-wanted. How could he be let out of the US to begin with?

There is no immigration check when leaving the US.

Only thing that would prevent it would be ig passport had been seized. This is sometimes done at arraignmrnt if the perdon is considered s fligjt risk  but being "wanted" does not mean an arraignment took place. Likely he skipped thevcountry before that occurred.

Just another one to lock up and throw away the key.

Better be beaten up behind bars.

I often heard Rapists and other sexual offenders were Worst Hated even among criminal convicts.

And often face lynch  inside the wall(common in US and Australian prisons).
