A federal judge on Thursday said he stood ready to enforce an order he issued blocking President Donald Trump's administration from freezing federal grants, loans and other financial assistance after Democratic-led states said billions of dollars in funding was still being tied up.

U.S. District Judge John McConnell in Providence, Rhode Island, during a virtual court hearing, said state agencies had a "rightful concern" that they were still not able to fully access money nearly a week after he issued his temporary restraining order.

He issued that January 31 order at the behest of Democratic attorneys generals from 22 states and the District of Columbia, determining it was necessary even after the White House's Office of Management and Budget rescinded its wide-ranging directive that had announced the funding freeze.

The Trump administration is withholding funds authorized by Congressed and signed into law by a President. And it'sis now defying the rulings of the courts. So much for the system of checks and balances. And there are some people out there who say that characterizing Trumpism as a kind of fascism is alarmist.

You dont know enough about US Law to comment based on a one sided article.

Clearly you don't understand the differencing between "challenging" and "defying." The way the executive branch  constitutionally challenges a lower court ruling is by abiding by the ruling and appealing it to a higher court.

Defiant Don, you go dude!

Not when you purposely put a stop to peace talks, as the Us & UK did

you need to dig deeper than that with a link on the whole story, not a snippet extracted from the whole story

You should be staying current and not talking about history.

We are not talking about what happen 4 years ago.  your story is very old and has no bearing on the situation now as you implied. Nice try though.

Which tariffs are you referring to? The sky is falling tariffs on Canada and Mexico that got the left on such tilt here? Of course, they caved in to Trumps demands so no tariffs needed. Exactly how he intended. Not sure why that upsets you to the extent of making things up?

First off, Trump hasn't ruled out tariffs. Second, he campaigned on them. He said they could reduce or even eliminate income taxes. He repeatedly cited William McKiinley. What's more, he claimed that Americans wouldn't have to pay for them in the form of increased prices. He got huge support from Trumpistas on this. But if he drops it, that's A-OK according to most of his supporters.. Sounds like a cult to me.
