I think it would be fair to say you have no idea about the people you jump to unfounded conclusions about and then insult on AN!

Like calling me a bad teacher, inferring I'm not qualified and saying I have Tourette's syndrome. Are these the sort of unfounded conclusions and insults you mean?

Time to send out for help from North Korea.

Thai Minister of Education was ridiculed mercilessly on social media.

Thai minister praises North Korean education system

Thailand's education minister has praised North Korea's school system for its "discipline and patriotism," and asked the international pariah for help in creating a similar environment for the kingdom's students.

The remarks made last month came to light after a statement from a meeting between Education Minister Permpoon Chidchob and the North Korean ambassador was circulated among Thai media.

Permpoon praised North Korea's schooling system, saying Bangkok sought "educational support to discipline children with patriotism and respect for country leaders."

Thai Education Minister: Thai education resembles North Korea

The Education Minister and the North Korean Ambassador to Thailand mutually agreed that the education systems of both countries are rather similar and plan to develop ties by educational exchanges.

The two agreed that the educational systems of both countries are similar. The similar elements include free 12-year basic education. Moreover, a few students from North Korea come to Thailand to study.

The Thai Education Minister proposed that the Ministry will talk with Thai universities with a view to an exchange programme with North Korean universities.

Please post a quote of me saying that I called you a bad teacher or ever used the words "Tourette's syndrome".  What I did say, and reiterate is that you make far too many, mostly insulting, posts based only on false assumptions about posters  and NOT on facts!

Qualified teacher? Are you a good teacher? Your comments are full of anger, half truths and plain lies. How can you be a good teacher?

Stay away from my kids.

As for saying I have Tourette's syndrome admin removed that post.

I have met Abhisit and although he was born and raised in Newcastle he does not have any twang of a Gordie,  he speaks perfect Queens English.

The Thais need to accept that there is only one international language and that is English, if for no other reason than to improve business relations.

And England must rank 116th for learning other languages.

It's really embarrassing for Brits abroad when all their language skills are ,talking louder and slower in English.

Shame on the education system.

Lucky we conquered a third of the World and forced everyone to speak English then, wasn’t it.

So many English speaking people find it very difficult to learn Thai

I know enough to get slapped, other than that I've been getting by with mime, sign language and interpretative dance.... and smiles.

Needless to say ordering at KFC is a chore... you try miming live chicken/dead chicken, no wings please.

I am happy to read how well educated you are and how ill you are informed about Thai people. In my 20 years living in Thailand I never met 1 Thai that could speak vietnamese, Chinese or French. I hardly can find a good English teacher to talk with. My vice director was a Master in English, but our conversations were always in Thai although i always urged her to use English, just as the director of school asked me. And Lao and Khmer people around the borders can speak of course. I am from the Netherlands and I can speak Belgian and German too and even a bit French. But a few wirds is not fluently as you claim. And with the low education standards in Thailand i dare to say that your statement doesn't make sense. Surely not for the majority

You mean 'Vlaams",? is almost the same as Dutch if i remember right.Belgium is bi lingual.

Are you filipino? Those people speak an annoying watered down version of english. They are the poor mans english teachers. US companies offshore their call centers there to save money, thats it

At least they speak a foreign language, hence know at first hand how complicated that can be. Now who do you want as your children's language teacher? A Filipino or a native speaker who does not understand the basics of language acquisition.

As I stated before, I prefer a Filipino or non native as teacher. Also, who is easier to understand, accent wise, someone from Newcastle, Dallas or Manilla? The latter yes.

I have taught in Thailand and based on that I would have to say they deserve to be at that rank - All most of my students wanted was a report with an "A" without any real desire to actually learn English HOWEVER when I use customer services on say 3BB or Lazada and other services I am surprised how good the English is - so all is not lost.

Probably some Thais would.

The most successful and most developed cities/areas in Asia: Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. All three colonized by the British.

(And yes, before anyone objects, Shanghai was British for a considerable period of time, Google it, ChatGPT it or YouTube it).

I am not British.

It is kind of the luck of the draw, though, as Burma got a pretty bad deal from it.  But I think Burma was treated as a big farm.

Burma uses English a lot.  If you holiday in spouthern Thailand, you'll find a lot of the hotel staff who speak English well are Burmese.

Burma?

Not since 1989!

Please get up to date!

You really don't gettit? Myanmar is the name used by the military Junta - both names go back in history - but I'm not going to cow-tow to the Junta - especially as they are losing the civil war at present. So perhaps you need to get up ro=to speed on the history and politics of BURMA!

BTW - got anything to say about English Language in Burma or are you just engrossed trying not to look daft??

Come to Thailand, learn a few Thai words. What's wrong? May get you a nice discount, even a free ride, at your favourite 'watering hole'. Pun not intended. For the record, EF Education First is not a leading name in English language education.
