Man Stabs Himself Before Jumping from Seventh-Floor Condo in Samut Prakan
Picture courtesy of CH7. A 40-year-old man lost his life after stabbing himself multiple times before leaping from the seventh floor of a condominium in Samut Prakan. His wife believes he had been haunted by visions of the guardian spirit of his old motorbike, which he had recently sold. The incident occurred at a condominium complex in Soi Dan Samrong 62, Samrong Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Prakan District. Officers from Samrong Nuea Police Station, along with forensic investigators and rescue personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, responded to reports of a fatal jump. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the lifeless body of Mr. Weerayut, 40, lying on his back in the condominium courtyard. He was shirtless and wearing shorts, with head trauma and multiple fractures in his arms and legs. Further examination revealed several stab wounds to his chest, inflicted with a sharp object. Authorities immediately cordoned off the area to conduct an investigation. A search of the victim’s apartment uncovered bloodstains near the entrance and a bloodied fruit knife, suspected to have been used in the self-inflicted stabbing. CCTV footage showed the deceased pacing in and out of his room alone before the fatal plunge. Ms. Chanjira, a witness, recounted the harrowing moment she saw the man fall. “I was sitting with my child when I suddenly saw him plummet right in front of me. I was in shock and immediately ran to alert the building staff. I didn’t see whether he jumped or accidentally fell,” she said. Meanwhile, the victim’s younger sister, known as “Phu,” tearfully stated that her brother had no history of serious conflicts with his wife or anyone else. “He was always hardworking and quiet. He had been saving up and had even bought a second condo unit, which he nearly finished paying off. I don’t believe he would have taken his own life,” she added. Police Colonel Wiroj Tattaso, Superintendent of Samrong Nuea Police Station, disclosed that after speaking with the deceased’s wife, she revealed that her husband had recently sold his old motorcycle. Soon after, he began experiencing distressing dreams in which the guardian spirit of the bike, known as “Mae Ya Nang,” appeared to him in anger. These dreams deeply affected the man, leading him to believe he had been cursed. His mental health reportedly deteriorated, and he became withdrawn. Just two days prior to the incident, on February 19, he had sought medical treatment for depression. However, his family did not expect him to take such drastic action. Authorities suspect that the victim stabbed himself inside his apartment before crossing to the newly purchased unit opposite his own, which lacked window security bars, and jumping.
