Hows about moving away from mass tourism and become self sufficient/reliant - thus keeping these pedo sex pests, like the two in question, out...

Just an early morning thought.

I truly believe that there are some acts that one committed are a self-revocation of the right to consume oxygen. Society should take it upon itself to eliminate these people from the face of the earth.

If there is sufficient evidence death is the only penalty that is truly deserved for crimes of this heinous nature. And it should be carried out swiftly without the possibility of appeal.

Judging from the number of AN threads questioning the age of consent in Thailand, I wonder how many posters here could be banged up if the cops ever checked the authenticity of the IDs of their short time trysts.

I'm not excusing the guys in the OP.  What they did was despicable.  Just suggesting that guys who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.  If you have to wonder if she's old enough... she isn't.

Websites should be fined.

I will not defend these guys, if guilty, but there is a a more glaring omission, who supplied the girls, and why we see no attempt to find them, I am not following this disgusting scene, but I assume, without local help, it would be hard to find the girls.

There is probably more to the story than has been published. But it doesn't look like there was a 'supplier' - the parents of the first girl were conned into thinking the richer foreigner would help with the daughter's education - pretty naive - but plausible. In the Brit case, he met the girl on a dating app. The company needs to do better screening to avoid kids getting access to its dating app.

Who supplied them?  From the story in the first case her family.  In the second case she supplied herself through a dating app.

I did not see that information, in the story, so, where the parents also charged... 2nd case, have the parents been interviewed

We all know and agree on that, I believe that token attempts have been made, but such a change is immensely difficult and would likely take decades. As it stands, Thailand just doesn't have a lot of economic resources to offer the world, and Thai workers themselves are deeply dependent on tourist dollars.

I would guess he had no idea he had anyone looking for him.  He had a Tinder date and at some point later he left the country.  Meanwhile for unexplained reasons that date turned into a crime (her parents maybe?) .  I would imagine her Tinder profile was somewhat inaccurate.  Doesn't make it right but it's a shame only bits and pieces of stories like this get told.

From the information in the article you are right. If there was more to the story they really need to give the details.  Instead they just grouped him together with the other piece of trash.

I will say most 15 yo Thai girls could never pass for legal age, especially in the eyes of a foreigner. Could he have felt bad and just took her to dinner and dropped her off?  They should be publicly accusing these people of exactly what they believe happened, or at least explaining the basis for charges.

The Siam Rath article from where this story originates does have more details, and seems more than dinner was involved.  But also acknowledges his defence......"the suspect claimed that it was a case of playing on Tinder, a dating app, with the victim willingly and not knowing the real age. In this case, fairness must be given in the investigation, which must go into the details of the case at another level"

Hope they cannot buy their way out of a 'misunderstanding'. Years ago the Mrs had a student who worked for a USA airline, the FBI knew about his child abuse in Thailand, but rather than have him arrested here they waited until he landed in Hawaii before arresting him. He got 22 years for under the age girls and distributing porn he filmed here. His ex in Bangkok dobbed him in, he's still inside.

We all agree that there is no place for pedos anywhere, at home, or here. Every year we see a few pedo stories of tourists or expats exposed. Hopefully, all get what is coming to them. There are bigger questions about pedos able to fulfill their fantasies here in Thailand more easily though, which this story points towards, yet Thai society (including the government and media) avoid. Some poor Thai families make their underage daughters available, often within local Thai pedo circles (and we have all seen articles of such). Many more poor families encourage (or force) their daughters into both Thai and foreign sex establishments. How many are underage? How many are underage on dating apps? The victims are the children, the pedos the criminals, and Thai culture the facilitators. This is not the time or place to get into a discussion of all the reasons for this situation. Until the situation changes,, both Thai and foreign pedos don't need to "manipulate" the system, they are taking advantage of it.
