Nowaythatsreal Posted yesterday at 02:46 AM Posted yesterday at 02:46 AM I understand that it is possible to get a re-entry visa before departure at BKK airport. My worry would always be if the re-entry desk was unmanned for any reason my non-o visa application process would have to start from scratch upon my return 🤷♂️

If the desk was ever "unmanned" you would draw staff to the fact and an immigration officer will attend. It's bullet proof. They even provide a 200b option to fill in form + photo. Single reentry 1000b Multiple reentry 3800b Plus OPTIONAL service fee 200b 1
Upnotover Posted yesterday at 02:55 AM Posted yesterday at 02:55 AM It's actually a "Re-Entry Permit". You might mention that to them at the desk when you get it. 1 1
DrJack54 Posted yesterday at 02:59 AM Posted yesterday at 02:59 AM Pick above is BKK. Located Zone 2. After security check and PRIOR to passport control. The desk in pic is to left side of immigration lines Note at DMK the reentry permit desk is just PAST immigration passport control. 1
Nowaythatsreal Posted yesterday at 03:06 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:06 AM Well I am glad I asked. I thought they just stamped your passport and you were good to go (and come back of course). Can you download the form and supply your own passport sized photo?
DrJack54 Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM https://www.diald.nu.ac.th/download/International Service/Overseas Staff/05 Re-Entry Permit/Form TM.8.pdf The form is double sided. You print it that way. Meaning end up with one sheet form.
DrJack54 Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM @Nowaythatsreal your other threads eg one attached indicate you wish to exit Thailand and reenter visa exempt. Why now asking for reentry permit.

Nowaythatsreal Posted yesterday at 04:24 AM Author Posted yesterday at 04:24 AM This post was just out of an academic interest in what might happen if the booth was not manned no more really 🥴 2

IF the 'Re-entry Permit booth' is unmanned... speak to an Immigration officer, they'll get someone to man it (at suvarnabumi airport, there is an office very close by, the officer assigned for that roll maybe in that office).

Its somewhat of a 'non-issue' and concerning yourself with such matters is really over thinking things.... there is always someone there (or very nearby).
Nowaythatsreal Posted yesterday at 06:48 AM Author Posted yesterday at 06:48 AM It’s not the same at all if a re-entry permit is not obtained when the checking staff eventually turn up (in your scenario) they will eventually check me in and my flight will leave. Upon return to Thailand with no re-entry permit I get the visa waiver 60 days and have to start the Non-O process from scratch 🥴. 3 1

You have been given sound advice. You will be able to obtain reentry permit at airport. I have over a dozen. Max time it ever took was 30min (once) . Other times approx 5-10 mins. Also as I posted earlier. Why have threads asking about border bounce and now reentry permits! 1
Nowaythatsreal Posted yesterday at 08:35 AM Author Posted yesterday at 08:35 AM The problem is that just because I ask a question everyone thinks I am in a particular situation. It’s not the case I just want to be clear what happens in certain situations 🤷♂️ 2 2

To help you along, with reference to your topic title let me ask you the difference between a re-entry permit and a re-entry visa. 2 The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. — George Bernard Shaw
Nowaythatsreal Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago I guess you should address that question to Thai immigration at BKK airport

For PR holders exit / re-entry stamps (both books) must be obtained at an immigration office prior to travel.

The airport getting to the flight without any panic is worth it to me. I download the form or pick one up at Central Festival Mall Immigration (on the 2nd floor), bring my own photo, pay the 1000 baht fee, they stamp the Re-Entry Permit in my Passport.

Checking in and clearing immigration are essential processes, getting a re-entry pemit is not. Time constraints at the airport would mean the essential requirements take priority. If you come back without a re-entry permit it is entirely of your own doing. 1
