A man was shot dead by his neighbour following a dispute over loud noises from plumbing work in Nakhon Pathom province on 20 February.

At approximately 12:30, police received reports of a shooting at a residence in the Huam Kret subdistrict of Sam Phran district. Officers and rescue personnel arrived to find the body of 47-year-old Montara lying in a pool of blood, having sustained gunshot wounds to the left arm and head.

About 50 metres from the scene, police located a .38 calibre homemade firearm discarded on the roadside. The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Vithun, was also a neighbour of the victim.

According to Police Colonel Paitoon Paesinuan, prior to the shooting, Montara was performing plumbing repairs outside his home, which created significant noise. This seemingly provoked Vithun, who lived nearby, leading to a heated argument between the two men. During the confrontation, Vithun fired one shot at Montara before walking around the house and returning to fire a second shot, fatally wounding him.

In a tragic turn of events, Vithun then used the same weapon to shoot himself in the chest, resulting in serious injuries. He was subsequently transported to the hospital for emergency treatment.

An eyewitness, known as Pom, recounted hearing the argument and gunshots. He emerged from his house to find Vithun walking around with the firearm and heard Montara calling for help, stating, “Help! I’ve been shot.” Pom immediately ran to fetch his brother to help and returned to find Montara had already succumbed to his injuries, prompting him to contact the police.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Does plumbing make that much racket or is the this one incident in many?

I wouldn't think so as most pipes & fittings are plastic these days

After being forced to change hotels due to a new gogo bar opening across from my old one I sympathize.  I had visions of murdering whoever was responsible for installing exterior speakers to share their techo with the entire Soi.  😃

We have a Korean BBQ restaurant nearby, closed all day it opens at 6pm, at 8pm every night the chosen live band strikes up, at 10pm the amplifier gets wound-up playing until 2am.

Smack bang in the middle of a residential area.

Although I understand your complaints, but you chose to live near that without thought about what happens at night. I am certain that they did not just decide one evening to turn up the music in a private residential area. You should have given thought to your surroundings prior to living there. I also fail to see what this has to do with killing someone over their need to repair their plumbing during normal day light hours. The man who did this must have had some issues with the one he killed prior to this incident leading to his anger being so much. Although Thais, generally fly off the handle easily and escalate things quickly and without thought.

The problem for a lot of people is that a lot of these places open up after a residential area has been established. Also, the loud bass-heavy rubbish they play is at such a volume that it doesn't have to be nearby to shake your walls and windows. There seems to be a bit of a trend these days to build pool villas which operate a karaoke every night for the tourists staying there. It's happened around our way and although they aren't on my doorstep, you can hear the boom of the bass speakers most nights in my house with all the doors and windows closed. Although this guy's actions were extreme, I can understand what caused him to kick off.

I've lived at this address for sixteen years, the restaurant opened 4 years ago... city planning is to blame.. why were they given a live band licence [that's if they have one of course]??

A little off topic and I'll understand if it is moved or deleted.  Does having a condo way up high mitigate surrounding noise problems?  Like does 20 stories up cure the issue?
