GammaGlobulin Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Dear Folks, I would be very much interested in knowing the state of your inner monologue. What do you typically discuss with yourself? Do you sometimes become annoyed at the inanity of it all? Are you able to turn it off, at will? Or, does your inner monologue sometimes become overwhelming? I am sure that having a good and healthy dialogue with oneself is necessary for many reasons. One of which might be planning one's next move. And, just so many other benefits of talking to oneself, you just cannot believe. What do you think might happen to you if your inner speech suddenly up and left you? Ever thought about it? Do you ever find yourself discussing bizarre topics? I do not. But, I imagine some of you might...or... Am I wrong? Let's all share how healthy we are. Best regards, Gamma 1 1
The Legend Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago 555 That is a question for another forum bc 50-70% of people have no inner monologue. I'd venture that would cover 70% of this board easily. When I learned that it explained much about the world

blaze master Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I regularly ask that guy why so many are unevolved.
jerrymahoney Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago When I get to convoluted with myself, I do a variation on the word GROW (at 1:25)

Happens to you a lot?

Gandtee Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I do ask myself why I still bother to read this nonsense.🫢
save the frogs Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I remember seeing this psychology book in the library many years ago.

StreetCowboy Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago If it’s a monologue, it’s a waste of time - no-one - not even themselves - listens to someone ranting. If it’s an inner dialogue - that might be more constructive Aye ye sey that noo, but ye ne’er listne, dae ye? Back in the day, I walked amongst them, and I was surprised that Americans (specifically USAns) believed their own stories.

The inner monologue is sometimes available if one asks the AI, explicitly, to show this monologue to the human observer. For example, this is possible using DeepSeek, if I am not much mistaken. If one is still not satisfied with the VERBOSITY of the record of the monologue provided on the first try, then one can ask DeepSeek to be more verbose. And then, it will provide what you asked for, even though this might take a bit more time. 1

As far as I know, the inner monologue is sometimes also referred to as a dialogue. Still, it is the same phenomenon. And, we would be very much lost without it, IMHO.
