Is anyone concerned about DOGE targeting US Soc Sec direct deposit into Thai accounts?

Trust me on this, it's not your "property" in the same way your Title II benefits are your property.  It's considered a form of welfare, based not on your work record but on the government's beneficence.

In any event, they normally don't play such benefits to those overseas more than 30 days.   And they can very much do that.  However, Title II benefits are different.

Bottom line: they'd have as much luck telling you couldn't travel with Nike jogging shoes as they would telling you couldn't travel with your Title I benefits.

Musk may get some mileage with the "chainsaw" nonsense, but you can bet he has very smart legal advisors who know the law and know full well they'd get nowhere in court with any kind of restriction on receiving Title II benefits overseas.

If you're living on SSI, you ain't going anywhere, and probably on other state & federal handouts.

It's not. only the amount, which is usually minimal but the amount is sometimes supplemented by various states. It's the source of funding.  Title II benefits are funded from the Social Security trust fund and are generally considered a property right by the courts.  Title XVI benefits are funded by the government's general fund and are a creature of statute and regulation.  There's a distinction, and in legal terms. It matters for purposes of my point here.

If he cuts us off there's going to be a lot of "Rooftop Voters" looking to change leadership.  Common sense tells you that.  Especially if they're dying from terminal cancer, what do they have to lose?  He better hide in his bunker.

Social Security Checks Could Stop Going Out by April, Ex-Head Warns

The former head of the Social Security Administration warns that proposed cuts to the agency could lead the entire system to “collapse,” disrupting benefits payments to millions of Americans.

“Ultimately, you’re going to see the system collapse, and there will be an interruption of benefits,” Martin O’Malley, former Social Security commissioner under the Biden administration, told CNBC. “I think that will happen within the next 30 to 90 days.”

“People should start saving now,” he urged.

Yeah, well.

That depends.

Will Nike rebuke Trump's attempts at extortion protection money?

If so, banned by E.O.

If no judge is brave enough to rule against him (remember, they will have concentration camps and paramilitary door buster-kidnappers by then) SCOTUS refuses to take up the case, it's de facto American "law".

I'm not a lawyer, but I am available to play one on TV.

We will bring down the price of groceries and inflation on Day One.

We won't touch Social Security or Medicare/Medicaid.

Yeah right 😅

But you blindly trust the current Musk Mook in that job with no evidence whatsoever that SS will be functional in a few months?

Yikes.

No where in the constitution does it even mention social security.  You have no constitutional right to social security.  Social Security was created by congress, and congress can write a law and change social security in anyway they see fit.

You obviously know nothing, so believe what you want.  The right to travel is a fundamental human right recognized by the Supreme Court. It's a longstanding concept.  As is your fundamental right to your property, including your Title II social Security benefits which you earned.  If anyone tried to restrict your right to travel, including your right to travel overseas with your property, they wouldn't' get very far in the courts.  Perhaps you should stick to commenting about that which you have some clue.

I think it's fair to assume that you can now take nothing for granted in the US under the administration of Musk & DOGE.

We'll have to take our Social Security payment in unsold soy beans.

There's no way they would spend the political capital to pursue a losing argument.  Even a friendly Supreme Court would know the case to take away Title II benefits is unconstitutional. In short, it's not going to happen.  Maybe some lower court would go along?  A possibility that would be quickly enjoined.

There's a lot to worry about for some people, but traveling overseas with your property isn't one of them.

It's a long term goal.  They might wait until political capital no longer has any value. The end game of the Musketeers now seems to make government irrelevant so it doesn't matter who is elected President.  The real power is who manages the Algorithms AI will use to run the government and payments.  My understanding is he who controls the money flow controls everything, essentially.  What if all payments in the future are routed through X's payment system for "modernization" of outdated Treasury computer systems for uhhhh "for your protection" because we found a lot of waste, fraud and corruption (no proof given).

Whatever SCOTUS rules is Constitutional.

Corporations are people and money is speech.

What a crock if you think the 5 Republicans clowns on the court won't go along if they get paid off. 💰

Theoretically speaking, that conspiracy theory to which you refer (something about routing payments through X) could benefit Musk if there was a charge to the government in the processing of those payments.
