Not NATO, but some European nations are willing to go there as part of a REAL security guarantee (in lieu of blocking Ukraine from joining) which Ukraine needs if any "deal" isn' going to be a surrender. Trump the Putin loving buffoon wants reparations FROM Ukraine, not TO Ukraine from Russia, and hasn't expressed one word about supporting any kind of security guarantee for Ukraine. If he thinks he's going to get a Nobel Prize for surrendering he's tripping.

The Russian land mass is 17 million square kilometres, the biggest country on the planet.  Ukraine is a mere 600,000 square kilometres, but the soil in eastern Ukraine is the richest on the planet.

 

Wars are about theft writ large, and Putin has a well-earned reputation as a kleptomaniac.

 

IMO he is focused in the wrong direction. Eastern Siberia is a treasure house of all kinds of resources, and China needs them.

 

What's the bet if Ukraine becomes all out war between the EU and Russia, China won't be stabbing Putin in the back?

The number is immaterial.

The possession and the acceptance by the other side of your determination  to use them in extremise is what counts.

Both France and the UK maintain at least one SSBN on patrol at all times. 

USA, Russia and China have their own SSBN's on patrol as well.

In addition other countries also have their own nuclear weapons which are capable of delivery by various means out with the SSBN scenario.

Contrary to false and misleading statements both the French and UK systems are TOTALLY independent of any control or limitations by any other country.

Only the bits of then Europe that they occupied got realigned because the western Allies were too slow to cross the Rhine and slow the Russian advance into Berlin.

The Brits blame Paton and the Yanks blame Montgomery for being late and the French blame everyone with their white flags!

Eisenhower of course blamed nobody and accepted all the credit since Roosevelt had died and Churchill was out of power.
