On Tuesday Trump proposed a programme to let wealthy foreigners pay $5 million for US citizenship.

There is already the EB-5 visas route which let foreign investors who create jobs in the United States apply for residency.

However, Trump wants little if any restrictions on who can pay the $5 million to get "Gold Card" citizenship.

Asked whether Russian oligarchs could qualify, he said, "Yeah, possibly. Hey. I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people."

'USA is now QVC': Trump mocked as he floats having foreigners pay $5M for citizenship

To paraphrase (slightly) :

''From his beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; his blue eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied poor!” cries he
With silent lips. “Give me your mafia, your rich,
Dodgy dealers and money launderers, yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, no questions asked, direct to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Trump, however, argued on Wednesday that it would benefit talented workers from abroad. He outlined a vision where top technology companies like Apple would pay for foreign employees’ “gold cards”, comparing it to a signing bonus for athletes.

I ran the numbers.  Simple math.

$5M is $80/hour, 40 hours a week , 52 weeks a year for 30 years.

He thinks Apple is going to pay this bonus UP FRONT for engineers from India?

Now, I'm sure Apple was paying it's H1B visa workers more than Boeing, but Boeing was paying them $10/hour.

Math ''Jenius"?!?

No wonder Mr. Dunning Kruger bankrupted a casino.
