Another good one you can use for cheap calls is  My Tello ....   very cheap and good quality voice.

Would be nice however calls to landlines/mobile numbers was never free with Skype.......

For infrequent usage however Skype was cheap enough and MyTello maybe a potential option for some

Not entirely true...When making toll free calls (800#) to the U.S. & using my VPN I never had to pay...

The main reason I'm looking for a program similar to Skype is I want the cheapest rate going when calling Government Departments and Banks when I placed on hold for 30 minutes or even longer.
