A mother has died and her three-year-old son remains in a coma after a horrific crash involving a white Isuzu box lorry and a Honda Wave motorcycle on the Phimai–Chum Phuang Road in front of Ban Rangka Yai Temple, Rangka Yai Subdistrict, Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima.

The accident, which occurred at approximately 15:00 on 28 February 2025, was captured on CCTV. Footage shows the lorry colliding with the motorcycle, which was carrying the woman and her young son, and forcing them into the temple wall. Emergency responders from Hook 31 Rescue Unit, Rangka Yai Subdistrict Administrative Organisation’s emergency team, and Phimai emergency services rushed to the scene to assist.

The victims were identified as Ms. Thiriya 35, and her son, Master Chuangorn 3. Both sustained severe injuries and were taken to Phimai Hospital.

The lorry driver, Mr. Worathon 24, from Thung Khok, Song Phi Nong District, Suphan Buri, remained at the scene and told police that the accident occurred because he was momentarily blinded by sunlight and did not see the motorcycle ahead. He was taken into custody at Phimai Police Station for questioning and legal proceedings.

Ms. Thiriya succumbed to her injuries later that evening. Her son remains in critical condition and has been transferred to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, where he is being closely monitored in the intensive care unit. Doctors have confirmed that he is still in a life-threatening condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
