All we know is that according to the video the guy attempted to push the security guard, that's no reason to hit somebody so hard that you knock them down. There are a dozen other things that this guy could have done to de-escalate the situation, and he should have been trained in the art of de-escalation. Just a swift slap across the face could have worked.

 

Anytime you punch somebody hard enough to knock them to the ground you run the risk of killing them. You just never know how that head is going to land on the pavement, and death is an occasional occurrence, once that happens.

 

So you could say this was attempted murder in the broadest sense. In the most literal sense it was sheer stupidity and a massive level of overreaction, which deserves severe punishment to both the security guard and the owner of the club.

Dunno, that's the first time I've heard of a guard taking his uniform/guard shirt off before clocking the idiot.. Seems a bit of professionalism there.

I see no issues. Brit ran his mouth and wanted a fight. Thai guy was restrained and didn't hit or kick him while he was down. Fair fight. Tough luck to the senior, he shouldn't spend checks his ass can't cash.

So, the young bar security man felt so threatened by the 62 year old man that he had to attack the old man with a punch knocking him out. 

This Op sounds more like they are trying to justify the guards actions by using the guard sidestepping a push from an old man. 

I thought these guard are supposed to know and have means to subdue a drunken old man without causing physical harm or damage to the old man? If I was the old man i would try to make a case against the guard for assault and bodily injury. 

Why do the police permit such violent attacks to tourists over a simple push or attempted push? 

Shame on the guard and the Police there.

This Thai bouncer did not seek any help from other Thais. The Brit clearly had no idea he was taking on someone who was not afraid to fight, and who had the skills to do so.

Thai immigration should make that mandatory.  Make all visitors consume some predetermined amount of booze on the plane so that upon debarkation they can be sorted into the rowdy-when-drunk and chill-when-drunk categories.

 

It's welcome to Thailand for the latter group, and back on the plane for the ride home for the former.

 

Head off a lot of grief that way.

 

And sell quite a bit of booze too I imagine!
