Popular Post BritManToo Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Went once, nice setting, bit expensive, but food was served cold so never returned. Riverside next door had the same setting, a little cheaper, and the food was served hot, went to riverside many times. 1 1 1

Harrisfan Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM Best restaurants are always inland. You are paying for location. 2 1 1 1
Bill97 Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM A lot there that I don’t need in a restaurant. Live music, too many tables bet it is noisy 1 1
Thailand Posted yesterday at 07:46 AM Posted yesterday at 07:46 AM Used to be the Good View in Mae Hia which changed to The View for obvious reasons. Much prefer it to the riverside one. The View is loud and ostentatious, very party atmosphere. Some dishes are good some so so. Plenty of entertainment predominately Thai style can get very busy. Great fun if you have guests from overseas.

CLW Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago ขอใบเสนอราคาแผ่นพื้นคอนกรีต Baan Rai Yarm Yen I always go there and recommend to others when being in Chiang Mai. Full of Thais and rarely a foreigner in sight. Sometimes it can be a bit hectic and chaotic with dishes being delayed or forgotten. But the quality of the food is excellent.

1happykamper Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Good view is only OK after 10pm for party time. Nearby is Sai Ping restaurant... excellent food on the river... Great service.. Much more reasonable prices

Dcheech Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Many years back. The Good View's food was fine, albeit nothing memorable. The dinner that night was memorable. Nothing to do with restaurant, it was the people. We are technically related, the first and last time we had a meal together. No reason to switch from going to the Riverside. Been doing that for decades now. 1 1

CharlieH Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago It seems that some go somewhere ONCE years ago and it wasn't " memorable" then it's written off for life? Never to return, that seems odd to me, if the location etc is pleasant, maybe they have a different owner, chef or staff, agreed that can go either way too, but write it off for life? Seems harsh and a strange outlook to me. i'd maybe give it a miss for a couple months then try again. 1

I have been going to this place for 15 years already and never had issues. There was nothing to recommend The Good View over going to a nearby restaurant I frequent. Friends who have been there since agree with my analysis. However, excuse, let me be specific, the food was good, but less than the Riverside and for a higher price. They also did not have the selection of Thai & western food that the Riverside has. The music, I can't really compare as that was just getting started when we left. No reason to go back, not that I hate it. You pay for a meal & cover the bar tab, I'll meet you there, happily so. On the other hand, The Riverside; I go there with my wife, with friends, & even took mommy & daddy a decade back. I took them because I could count on a nice sunset ambience on the river, with a mix of Thai and western food that they would like. PS Read my original post again - nothing to do with the staff, everything to do with sister in law & her husband. 1

However I go to Riverside, and have for, uh, is it, four decades or is it five now?! No reason to change and no reason per my dinner at The Good View. Again sorry if I bothered you with my review, which is what this OP was about, if I read that correctly. Still I'll try and do better, but ... it is what it is. Cheers
