A fire broke out at a well-known electronics and furniture store in Wang Noi, Ayutthaya, destroying all the stock. Authorities believe an electrical short circuit may have been the cause.

Police Colonel Somjet Maenbutr, Superintendent of Wang Noi Police Station, received a report of the fire at Prasertchai Electronics and Furniture store, located in Wang Noi New City Market, Moo 7, Lam Sai Subdistrict, Wang Noi District, Ayutthaya Province.

Emergency responders, including firefighters from Lam Ta Sao Municipality and local disaster prevention units, dispatched multiple fire engines to the scene in an effort to control the blaze.

The shop, a single-storey steel-framed structure with a metal sheet roof, measured approximately 40 by 20 metres. Inside, a vast stock of electrical appliances and furniture provided ample fuel for the fire, which quickly engulfed the entire building. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky, posing a significant risk to the adjacent residential complex.

Firefighters worked urgently to contain the blaze, particularly to prevent it from spreading to a nearby apartment block. It took approximately one hour to bring the fire under control, but by then, the shop had been completely destroyed. The metal roof had collapsed, leaving only a charred structure.

Narupon Suwanprapha, an official from Wang Noi District, confirmed that five people were initially trapped inside the dormitory due to the heavy smoke. Emergency crews successfully evacuated them, but two residents suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to Rajthanee Hospital for treatment.

Employees working inside the store managed to escape unharmed, as the building had multiple exits with open side access.

Initial reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Investigators are currently questioning store employees and awaiting a forensic examination by Ayutthaya’s police crime scene unit to determine the exact cause.

Authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to assess the full extent of the damage.
