Trump Border Czar: ICE Will ‘Absolutely’ Deport Legal Immigrants

Donald Trump’s border czar declared Monday that immigrants living legally in the U.S. can “absolutely” be kicked out of the country—even if they have green cards.

 

Tom Homan was asked whether Mahmoud Khalil, who lead pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University and was arrested by ICE on Saturday night, can be deported even though he holds a green card and resides in the country legally. 

 

“Absolutely we can,” Homan told Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney. “Did he violate the terms of his visa? Did he violate the terms of his residency here, you know, committing crimes, attacking Israeli students, locking down buildings, destroying property? Absolutely, any resident alien who commits a crime is eligible for deportation,” he said, referring to pro-Palestine students’ occupation of a Columbia administrative building during protests last year.

 

The comment comes hours after Marco Rubio announced that legal residents could get their green cards and visas revoked. “We will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported,” he wrote in an X post that linked Khalil’s arrest. 

 

Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, told the Associated Press that the arrest was made “in support of President Trump’s executive orders prohibiting anti-Semitism.”

 

A petition calling for Khalil’s release has been signed more than 1 million times. Green cards and visas can be revoked if the holder is convicted of a crime or considered a threat to national security, but that decision is made by immigration judges.

This law is not new. Just the Dems never enforced it. Breaking the nations laws even in Thailand invites immigration to revoke your visa and deport you. I have yet to understand why these immigrants think they can come into America and break the laws and expect to stay? 

It is about time the US government starts getting rid of non-citizens when they violate the nations laws.

What has made this a hot issue is ICE has arrested an immigrant for protesting on a college campus. No charges have been filed, be broke NO laws, but because he was pro-Palestinian in his protest sentiment, he was arrested.

Inciting support for a terrorist organization is most likely illegal. 

It is one thing to have freedom of speech. But quite another to encourage others to support and aid terrorism. 

I would love to see what would happen to you if you went and stood outside your embassy protesting against something Thailand was doing. For sure arrest and deportation would follow.

Yup.  Where I live in China just now is very much at risk if I break the law.  So I simply don't. 

 

I do not understand why anyone would think or hope it'd be different in the USA, that's literally stupid.

 

That said, if someone supported a Palestinian?  I can't see how that would break the law unless that Palestinian was part of a proscribed terrorist organisation.  Here in China I saw a pro-Palestinian protest; the police let that protest happen without any intervention.
