Thailand Proposes Tax Incentives to Boost Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle Production
Of course, Thailand has the generating capacity, right? What we hear in the US: In an unmanaged charging scenario intentionally chosen as an illustrative worst case, 12 GW of dispatchable generating capacity (the add-on capacity starting from two decades ago) is equivalent to the aggregate demand of nearly 6 million new EVs. The reality is: 278,870,464 vehicles were registered in the US in 2022. Just under 100 mil were cars (98+ mil). Will be roundly entertaining, when some, many, try charging during peak demand. For those old enough, recall the days of even numbered, odd numbered when it came to filling the tank with gas. Fun times once again. Maybe they might try the end case, we're all electric, and then try grasping how many can pull into the station with 4 islands, 2 pumps per, and how many tanks can be filled in an hour versus how many having to charge. As of now best case scenario for EV is 30 minutes from empty to full. Have fun with that. Almost forgot: "Hybrids are an over complication" Not if your hybrid has generative breaking. A win-win, since the combustion helps with storage as does the regenerative braking. The joy of paying $20 at the station, once every two months, and never having to charge. Lastly, what is this tax rate madness? If by tax you mean, registration, that is solely vehicle weight. If you mean, miles driven, that's the tax on your gas at the pump (drive more, buy more gas, pay more gas taxes)(or haven't they figured that out either?). I won't even bother addressing the patent lunacy of, key player in the global automotive landscape. For all their smiles, can't they just be happy? -

Ayutthaya Man Confesses to Killing In-Laws, Wounding Wife and Child
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod A chilling domestic tragedy unfolded in Ayutthaya province, where 46-year-old Songpon confessed to killing his former parents-in-law and injuring his wife and her four-year-old child. The violent incident took place in the early hours within a village in Uthai subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Following the shootings, Songpon fled the scene, using his workplace's six-wheel truck to escape towards northern Thailand, supposedly to complete a delivery before surrendering to the authorities. However, he was apprehended on March 11 at noon, on the Asian Highway near Chai Nat, by police led by Colonel Manas Addoddorn. Investigations revealed a web of personal disputes fueling the crime. Songpon, who was in a complex relationship with his wife, faced escalating tensions due to jealousy, exacerbated by interference from her parents. Despite having another family, Songpon financially supported his wife, which added to the strife. On the fateful night, upon learning his wife was home, he attempted reconciliation. But a confrontation erupted with his wife's mother and stepfather, leading to a deadly altercation. In a moment of rage, Songpon shot them, attributing the child's injury to an errant bullet. Though he planned to finish his work duties before turning himself in, Songpon was intercepted by police. He acknowledged the irreversibility of his actions, admitting to carrying and using his firearm for personal protection. Songpon now faces charges of premeditated murder and illegal firearm possession. CCTV footage corroborated his presence in the village and his escape, as well as the distressing aftermath as his wife and child sought help. This tragic case underscores the grave consequences of domestic discord and the need for mediation to prevent such escalations, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-03-12 -

Thailand Seizes 200,000 Illegal E-Cigarette Items in Major Bust
I have the vapes that last a long time, Vaporesso is the brand and I have a small stock at home so should last me a year or two. I normally have 4 “on the go” so those 4 last me well over a year. just spoke to a friend of mine who also vapes. He is of the opinion that this too will pass. Even in Dubai it was forbidden until about 6 yrs ago when they made it legal. (My daughter lives there so that’s why I mention it.) my smokers’ cough disappeared quite soon after changing from cigs to vapes. It’s clean, no butts around, in my case no smell from the vape. I don’t vape huge clouds like some like to do. I’m pretty discrete with it. My lungs have improved tremendously since I started vaping around 8 yrs ago. I really get upset when such blatant lies are made about vaping. It’s obvious that the Thai government is not cracking down on this due to the health of the people. They would do far better, as you say, to promote it instead and regulate the vape juice to ensure only reputable companies can sell here. The total madness about young children being sold vapes near their schools is done by terribly unscrupulous adults who put God knows what into the liquid. The problem is not the vape, it’s WHAT you vape. Kids will always find something illegal to do, it’s in our nature. I remember as a teen ager (stupidly enough) Starting to smoke and hiding it. I got older friends to buy for me. However, when I started it was not as well known how bad it was for your health, so for me it was an act of rebellion and a stupid attempt to seem like an adult. That being said, most governments around the world accept the fact that vapes are less harmful and therefore work on regulating it as much as possible. Many of the alarmist trials on vapes were actually financed by the tobacco industry itself. There were two famous research centers, one in Italy and one in Greece that did independent studies which proved that there was less harm done by vaping as compared to smoking. One of the biased studies that proved metal toxins and formaldehyde was very much prevalent in vaping, was actually done in small cages with mice that were forced to vape continuously for 48 hours - non stop. No wonder the vapes overheated and started leaking metal toxins and by the very same heat created a high degree of formaldehyde. No one vapes non stop day and night! well, I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I do get very angry and upset about lies, hypocrisy and pigheadedness. Why not let the science speak for itself (I know everyone says it’s too early to know yet), but so far it is known to be less carcinogenic than cigarettes. Thanks for replying to my previous message, I appreciate that. -

Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?
It's no secret? Funny, the same party who claimed that if you put 10 different economist together you get 12 opinions, is now claiming that it was hardly a secret that the market is due for a correction. Was that the consensus of stock market analysts? Obviously, what you're up to is trying to deflect blame from fear of Trump's policies should the market crash.
