Putting a UK credit card on Google Wallet

Featured Replies

I have been trying to put my UK credit card details on a Google Wallet. Thought it might be useful for any future payments. On the wallet i get as far as a UK phone number which it says i have to ring to get my bank's approval but the number won't connect. I tried my bank phone app and ringing my bank Halifax but they couldn't help in setting up the card in Google Pay. Anyone been able to do it?

I have two U.S. Visa credit cards in my Google Wallet, both with virtual card support turned on.

I just added the second one in seconds, without having to supply a telephone number. I authorized the card via an email and FIDO key.

I use the tap to pay option on my phone for many transactions here.

You've installed Google Wallet?

Is Google Wallet approved in your home country?

Your card has a billing address and you have the ability to accept 2FA?

Your card supports tap to pay? Your card supports Google Wallet?

Can you describe the steps you're taking in more detail?

1. Add a debit or credit card
1. Add a debit or credit card
Open the Google Wallet app .
At the bottom, tap Add to Wallet .
Tap Payment card. New credit or debit card.
Use your camera or tap Enter details manually.
At the bottom, tap Save and continue.
Read the Issuer Terms and tap Accept.

Halifax

Visa and Mastercard debit and credit

Corporate and any non-consumer cards, plus American Express cards

I set up the Halifax clarity card, i just put in card details, i didn't need to call anyone.

The problem may be with the card, have you used it recently? Maybe the call isn't working because you don't have enough balance on your sim

Thanks for the replies.  I went through the 8 steps listed by bamnutsak. When i click accept it takes me to a phone number which i need to ring for verification. It's a UK number 0345 so can not connect from Thailand. My card, and phone  has plenty of credit and i have used it recently. When i look up Google Play on my phone app it seems to think that a credit card is already added.

I will try the other steps suggested by bamnutsak and ring my bank AGAIN

Does the Google Wallet app attempt to dial this number itself, or are you supposed to do this yourself manually? If the latter, my UK bank also has an 0345 number which I can call from Thailand by dialling +44345xxxxxxx on my Thai mobile.

Using a web browser, go to

wallet.google.com

log in if not already logged in

go to Payment Methods

Do you see your credit card?

If not, add it here.

Maybe your bank requires some real time authorization? Hence the phone number. I have 2FA and was required to use my FIDO key before I added the second card.

I did receive an email from my bank saying that my card was added to Google Pay.

WOW thanks that worked. I added the +44 and got through to my bank. I had to remove my card from Google Wallet and go into my mobile banking app and through Google Pay add the card back, So it's now in my wallet.

Thanks to all that replied.
